� Large CWT: length: 100 m; wind speed up to 300 km/h

� Small CWT: length 33 m; wind speed up to 120 km/h

Overview of the latest Developments

Thermal comfort

� Standard EN 13129 is in a review process

� Discussion between industry and operator concerning evaluation of comfort criteria

Functional tests:

� The most standards cover no details for functional testing under weather conditions

� RTA developed specific functional tests and standardized procedures (RTA brochure,

2006 “Functional Tests for Increasing the Reliability of Rail Vehicles”)

� Importance of this subject is shown in the IU-RFS-007 of ERA for the “Environmental

conditions – Design and test of RST for severe conditions” – CEN WG 45 already

established and acting

Energy efficiency optimisation

� A joint research project was started with the aim to reduce power consumption of HVAC-

System. Partner are Siemens, Vossloh Kiepe, Wiener Linien, TU Wien, SchiG
