ROCKPORT WORKSOur Facilities:Rockport Works is located on the OhioRiver in southwest Indiana, aboutan hour’s drive east of Evansville.The new state-of-the-art carbon andstainless steel finishing operations arehoused in more than 1,750,000 squarefeet of buildings. Utilizing the latestanufacturing technologies, the plantincorporates Automated GuidanceVehicles (AGV) and automated cranesto move the steel through the variousfinishing operations.Major production facilities includethe following:• Carbon and stainless continuouspickling line• Stainless continuous annealing andpickling line• Carbon and stainless continuous coldmill• Continuous hot dip galvanizing andgalvannealing line• Hydrogen annealing and temper rollingfacilitiesOur Products:Steels from Rockport Works include a full range of cold rolled carbon, coatedand stainless steels in either the annealed and pickled or temper rolled surfacecondition. Among Rockport’s products are:Carbon and stainless steels produced on the only cold mill in the world designedto tandem roll austenitic and ferritic grades of stainless steel, as well ascarbon steel.Hot dip galvanized products that are continuously coated on both sides withfree zinc, a process that provides a tight metallurgical bond.Hot dip galvannealed products that are continuously coated on both sides withzinc, then heated by induction to alloy the zinc and create a zinc-iron coating.The Rockport hot dip galvanizing and galvannealing line incorporates revolutionaryproprietary technologies, including induction transition heating, whichprovides rapid, accurate annealing temperature control.
