activities, interaction, and celebration . Check

May 30 – June 2: Dreamspeakers Film
Festival — A four-day celebration of the best
in Aboriginal films, including screenings, events,
youth Day and a Film trade and Career Fair .

June 7 – 17: Nextfest — held in many places
throughout the Edmonton downtown area,
Nextfest’s programs and events feature young
Canadian artists in theatre, dance, cyber-art,
music, painting, photography, filmmaking and
poetry . Shows are $10 and some events are free .

June 8 – 10 Creative Age Festival — this
year’s festival will focus on theatre performed by
and for seniors . Events are held across the city
and most of them are free .

June 9 – 10: Sprouts New Play Festival for
kids — A full afternoon of family entertainment
in the Stanley A . Milner Library theatre . New
plays suitable for pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6

for all Canadians to celebrate the cultures and
contributions of First Nations, Métis and Inuit
peoples to Canada .

Festival — Numerous free outdoor exhibits
transform downtown Edmonton into the
largest gallery in North America that includes
live artists demonstrations, outdoor street
market, music and lectures . Please join us in

June 26 – July 22: Freewill Shakespeare
Festival — this theatre festival celebrates the
works of Shakespeare . Julius Caesar and The
Tempest will be performed this year . tuesday
evenings and Saturday matinees are “Pay-Whatyou-Will
.” Jr . high, Sr . high and post-secondary
students can see Sunday shows for free with a
valid student ID . bring a picnic to enjoy in the
park before the show .
