<strong>2007</strong>–<strong>2008</strong> <strong>CIRA</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong>34Mr. Pounsett also participates in the CaliforniabasedDNS Operations, Analysis, and ResearchCenter (DNS OARC), an international forumfor discussing high-level DNS operations. DNSOARC runs several meetings per year; as part ofits commitment to OARC, <strong>CIRA</strong> will be hostingthe autumn <strong>2008</strong> meeting in Ottawa.Among several other technical and policyorganizations whose meetings Mr. Pounsettattends is NANOG, the North American NetworkOperators’ Group. NANOG sponsors face-tofaceand online forums on topics in networkoperations.MARKETING OUR DOT-CA PRODUCTPursuant to raising awareness of dot-ca inCanada and worldwide, <strong>CIRA</strong> dramaticallyramped up its marketing efforts in fiscal <strong>2008</strong>.In the summer of <strong>2007</strong> <strong>CIRA</strong> hired a Directorof Marketing and Communications to tacklenumerous new projects in development. In fall<strong>2007</strong> <strong>CIRA</strong>’s Marketing staff grew from two tofour, with hiring of a Marketing Manager anda Public Relations Communications Specialist.With these staff additions a more systematic,integrated approach to <strong>CIRA</strong>’s Marketing andCommunications has been introduced. <strong>CIRA</strong>increased its production of press releases and itscontact efforts with print, broadcast, and onlinenews reporters. A Media Room was opened onthe <strong>CIRA</strong> website to archive press releases andother public information.<strong>CIRA</strong> continued its participation in tradeshowsthroughout <strong>2007</strong>. <strong>CIRA</strong> exhibited at IT 360° inToronto in May <strong>2007</strong>, Infosec Toronto in June<strong>2007</strong>, and at the Massive Technology Showin Vancouver in February <strong>2008</strong>. Our presenceat such venues gives <strong>CIRA</strong> visibility in targetmarkets, allows members of the Canadianpublic to learn about dot-ca registration fromour representatives, and allows Registrants andMembers the opportunity to interact directlywith <strong>CIRA</strong> to ask questions.
