Jupiter IIThe Jupiter II range of T16(T5)luminaire builds on the success ofthe original Jupiter range, offeringdesigners and users even greaterchoice and flexibilityAs well as new features such asuplight control, ‘SensaDigital’integrated intelligent lightingcontrol technology and anextended choice of diffusersand louvres, Jupiter II is alsoconfigurable for surface ordirect/indirect use, can beinstalled singly, in continuouslines or in basic geometricconfigurations, and is availablein a choice of grey or white.Sustained photometricperformanceJupiter II maintains the Jupiterreputation for slim T16(T5)design and superb photometricperformance, further extendingthis through Thorn research anddevelopment.Flexible mounting for easierspecificationJupiter II is available as eitherindividual or system luminaires.The dedicated system versionsallow easy electrical throughwiring, along with variousmechanical connection options,depending on the installationmethod to be used.Optional infill modules, 90°corner, 'T' and 'X' junctionsfurther increase the variety ofcombinations.For further long-term flexibilityand reduced cost of ownership,the luminaires now use aremovable optic. Shouldlighting requirements change(perhaps when an office spaceis reallocated for storage) onlythe attachment needs to bechanged, regardless of themounting method.


Twin D/I version, white with uplight controller attachmentChoiceJupiter II offers two body types,surface and direct/indirect, ineither white or grey.The surface version has noupward light, two cable entryholes, and click fix holes for aspacer to be mounted to the backof the body. The body is thenscrew fixed to the ceiling andsecured using horseshoe slidingwashers, leaving hands free tomake the electrical connection.The direct/indirect versionincludes a slot through the backof the body, allowing light to bedirected upwards.When the uplight controller,(available as an accessory)is inserted in the uplight slot,the light is controlled, thusilluminating the upper roomsurface in a more evenlybalanced way.3

Overallenergy management can befurther improved by using theHFD versions of Jupiter II withhigh-frequency digital dimmableDSI ballasts, along with otherThorn Lighting Controls products.SensaDigital enables you to linkJupiter II to daylight, infraredcontrol and presence.When installed in continuouslines, the efficiency ofJupiter II’s MLS (Mini LouvreSystem) optics may producelight levels that exceed thetarget. The use of SensaDigitalinfills makes Jupiter II intelligent.The luminaire will maintain thespecified illuminance level duringthe day, and can be operatedby a simple infrared remotecontrol. The SensaDigital detectspresence within the patternshown below, and can controlup to four ballasts which shouldbe within the detection zone ofthe sensa head. Lighting benefitsJupiter II not only provides anattractive lighting feature in theworking environment it alsooffers excellent performance,efficiency and qualitySaving spaceDirect/indirect luminaires withan uplight component producegood results but can intrudeinto the workspace. This can bea problem in buildings whereceiling height is minimal.The conventional response to thisis the use of recessed or semirecessed luminaires. However,Jupiter II offers the additionalchoice of close offset mountingthe direct/indirect fitting. Thiseffectively lights all surfaceswithout creating pools of lighton the ceiling thus giving a morebalanced result. Jupiter II givesa good result when mountedapproximately 150mm from theceiling, using the suspendedversion with close offset rods anduplight controller accessory.Refined optical designJupiter II is available witheither Mirrorbrite or Satinbritealuminium louvres for goodlight control and compatibilitywith interior design.
