However, partnerrapists had higher psychopathy scores, t(46) 3.93, p .001; and higher VRAGscores, t(46) 5.10, p .001 (see Table 1).DiscussionThere were similarities and differences between partner rapists and other offendergroups. The forensic sample confirmed psychopathy as a characteristic of sexualaggression in relationships: Thirty-three percent of partner rapists were psychopaths,the average score of psychopathy among partner rapists were not different from rapists,and there was no difference in the proportion of partner rapists and rapists whowere psychopaths. Characteristics of rapists that were different among partner rapistsincluded criminal history and risk of recidivating. A characteristic of childmolesters that did not apply to partner rapists was lower IQ. It was interesting thatpartner rapists were more psychopathic and were at greater risk of recidivating thanpartner assaulters. We discuss the implications of these similarities and differencesin our general discussion.An important component of Study 2 was to ensure that our samples were similarto other crime samples.
