Working together from a transatlantic and interdisciplinaryperspective, Academy fellows use research, publications, and ideas to make policy-relevant contributions topolicy debates facing the transatlantic community. In addition, the Academy has received early support fromthe Transatlantic Program of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany through funds of the EuropeanRecovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. His most recent book is BoundingPower: Republican Security Theory from the Polis to the Global Village, which won the Book of the Decade Award of theInternational Studies Association. Professor Deudney specializes in international relations theory, political theory andinternational relations, and contemporary global issues (nuclear, environment, space and energy).2Hanns W. Maull is professor and chair of foreign policy and international relations, University of Trier, and one ofGermany’s leading academic foreign policy analysts. Professor Maull is chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of theStiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, Berlin and deputy chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Councilon Foreign Relations. Among his more recent books is Germany´s Uncertain Power, Foreign Policy of the Berlin Republic(Palgrave 2006).
