However, the area scores fairlylow because of its relatively high sedimentation ratesand the strong involvement of local communities inmangrove, sea grass and reef management. Vulnerabilitycan be reduced by further enhancing local managementcapacity to reverse declines in sea grass cover at nearshoresea grass habitats and by controlling humanpressures, such as ash fallout from sugarcane burning.The vulnerability of the Tikina Wai mangroves can befurther reduced by better planning of migration areasinland and by working with the government to improvemangrove-related protection legislation.Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Planning for Mangrove Systems | 85
