Sinnissippi Quilters Inc.NQA Chapter IL 548Feb. / Mar. 2011Volume 31 No. 4www.sinnissippiquilters.org(email@example.com)PRESIDENT’S MESSAGEHappy New Year, Sinnissippi Quilters! After the excitement and activity ofthe holidays, I am certainly ready to take a deep breath (or several) and takestock of what is coming up for us in 2011.First and foremost is our 2011 quilt show “Memories of Mom”. I know thatmany of you are working on quilts for the show. That is just a small part ofwhat will need to be done before May. At our February and March meetings,VP Georgy’s husband will have a truck on site to collect items for the boutique. When the weather is cold and we are inclined to stay inside - this is a greattime to go through our sewing spaces and cull out those items we know someoneelse could use more than we do. Books, fabric, patterns, notions, etc. - getit in a box or bag and bring it to the next three meetings so that our show’s boutiquecan make lots of money for the guild. Also, please volunteer to work before, during and/or after the show in whateverway our show committee needs. There are many ways to be involved andwithout the work that the volunteers put in, this show could not happen. Manymembers have already been hard at work and they are depending on us to doour parts, too.In March, we will have our annual neonatal quilt sew-in for the NICU atRockford Memorial Hospital. This is always a fun time for me and I am continuallyamazed at how much gets accomplished on that one day alone. The needis great and our efforts are so appreciated, both by NICU staff and families withbabies in the unit. In terms of total hours spent, this is by far our largest communityproject. We also have terrific lectures and workshops coming up - think about bringinga friend who is not yet a member. Our remaining months will be filled with avariety of ways to see what quilting is all about. In the meantime, I am trying to make a list of my 2011 “quilty” resolutions. Here are a few:(1) I am going to avoid starting any project that has no hope of completionin the near future. I have no room for UFO’s (or as a friend of minecalls them - DIC’s - “delayed in construction”).(2) I am going to make at least one more bed quilt for my house becauseI am tired of always being cold at night.(3) I will continue to use my quilting and sewing gifts and enthusiasm tobenefit others. I always feel good after making something that I thengive away.(4) I will try to take advantage of every opportunity to become a betterquilter, through workshops, online classes, or just getting together withmy quilting friends who know more than I do.Whatever it is that you want to accomplish in 2011, I hope you have successbut, more importantly, I hope you have fun doing it. Here’s to a safe, moreprosperous and hopeful year for all of us.RobinGUILD MEETINGINFORMATIONSinnissippi Quilters meet onthe first Thursday of eachmonth (unless announcedotherwise) at Bethesda CovenantChurch, 2101 E.
