Days 1-2 Kathmandu Sit back in a tiny cafe andwatch the comings and goings of busy Kathmandu. This vibrantcity is a fascinating mixture of legend and modern development,old and new. Go shoulder to shoulder with the locals as youexplore markets, palaces and temples. Day 3 Katike Ghat Catcha morning flight to the the plains of Tumlingtar. Warm up witha gentle uphill hike through rice paddies and mango groves tothe little village of Katike Ghat, the starting point for the trekkingadventure ahead. Days 4-22 Everest Trek The ascent beginsalmost immediately and continues, sometimes relentlessly, overthe next few weeks. Your efforts are well rewarded though asyou trek through an area few people ever get to see. This area isincredibly rich in culture and you’ll come across Sherpa villages,decorated temples and houses that are covered daily by freshlayers of yak dung. Get to know the locals and get an insight intotheir lives as you spend your evenings in the teahouses dottedacross the region. Cross through valleys and over rivers, traverseforests, trek along mountain ridges and finally head towardsEverest Base Camp. The stuff of legends, Mt Everest is an icon ofbeauty and achievement. Over the following days, get ever-closerto the ultimate goal, ascending through woods, Sherpa villagesand across mountain passes. Gorakshep, an Everest base camp,sits at 5,160 m (16,929 ft) and from here you will need every lastounce of energy to make it to the Kala Pathar to witness thegrandeur of mighty Everest up close. This amazing view is like ashot of adrenaline and the return trek is somehow easier - it couldof course be because altitude is finally being lost instead of gained!Day 23 Lukla The final day’s trek is relatively easy. Take in theviews and relax on a leisurely walk back to Lukla. Celebrate yourachievements with a cold beer or two. Days 24-25 KathmanduAn early morning flight delivers us back to Kathmandu with plentyof free time for sightseeing.
