140 Services and featuresIP Phone upgradeThis section describes the IP Phone upgrade.An administrator can upgrade the firmware of an IP Phone through theSystem Management Console. With this service, an administrator canperform the following tasks:• force the upgrade of an IP Phone based on a variety of filter criteriaThe administrator can select an unlimited number of phones from theleft-side of the Maintenance window. The IP Client Manager managesthe queue to the UFTP server.• query for the number of these Internet telephones that are in the queuewaiting for upgrade.• stop the upgrade of these Internet telephones currently in the upgradequeue.The system upgrades idle phones only.All IP phone end users are informed about firmware upgrades, but theycannot stop them. A message appears on the phone to indicate when anupgrade is about to begin. The process takes a little less than a minute.If the upgrade fails, the phone reverts to its previous load.IP Phone upgrade is supported on the AS only.OM to Monitor Registered LinesThis section describes the OM to Monitor Registered Lines feature.Feature descriptionThis feature provides an Operational Measurement (OM) group for AS andC20-EXPERiUS configurations that provides data about the number ofactive registrations, including static registrations, by SIP profile on anongoing basis. This data enables maintenance personnel to know thenumber of subscribers impacted by a failure or an outage. The name of theOM group is SIPRegisteredLines.The SIPRegisteredLines OM Group, collected on a per SESM basis,provides the number of registered clients, by SIP profile and by SESM. Data is collected for each SESM in the systemand includes the following:• registered Clients• registered ClientsAvg• registered ClientsHigh• registered ClientsLowAs SIP profiles are created or removed, the associated SIP profile rows inOM Group are either added or removed, accordingly. Following theremoval of a SIP profile (and subsequent removal of the associated row), alog is generated that identifies the SIP profile that has been removed.A subscriber may be registered with multiple clients. In this instance, theRegistered Subscribers field increments only once, for the registered publicuser entity, and the Registered Clients increments for each client withwhich the subscriber has registered.Quality of Service (QoS)This section describes the Quality of Service feature, which is availableonly on IP Phone 2002, 2004, 2007 and 1100 Series phones.System administrators can enable and set the following client Quality ofService parameters through the Provisioning Client:• QoS DiffServ code for signaling• QoS DiffServ code for audio• QoS DiffServ code for video• QoS 802.1p service priorityGENCom for Windows users with Windows 2000 may need to install aQoS Packet Scheduler in order to activate QoS (Quality of Service). QoSensures that data transmission on the network does not impact the qualityof service transmission. End-users should ask their system administrator ifthey need to perform this procedure.IP PhonesIP Phone users can view IP network performance parameters whileengaged in a call. The QoS soft key appears on the display during anactive call.
