192 OAMP strategies and

192 OAMP strategies and fundamentalsPresence Manager Presence User Agent (PUA) configuration is managedby PUA client devices such as the IP Phones, GENCom for Windows, andPersonal User Agent..1+1 configurationThe 1+1 configuration for redundancy allows for a cluster of SessionManagers to support Presence. Under the redundant configuration, allregister, subscribe, and incoming notify messages are processed on aunique, preassigned Session Manager in the cluster for a given user. Thisoccurrence is achieved by adding a Session Manager's home for eachsubdomain when users are provisioned. The home address is used forrouting the register, subscribe, and notify messages to the correct SessionManager.Max Size of Client List of FriendsThe number of people that you have in your list of friends is the number ofpeople that you are subscribing to watch. This parameter controls thenumber of people you have in your list of friends. Although a user can belogged on to numerous devices, the list of friends is a shared resource. Thus, if this maximum size for the list of friends is set to ten, you can havethe same ten friends on each of your client devices.Max number of SubscriptionsThis provisioning limit controls the number of subscriptions from multiplewatching devices. The Max number of Subscriptions is a domain-levelparameter for inbound subscriptions to any given user in that domain. The upper limit for presence is 1000 for a given user in a service set. However, subscription limits over 100 can cause serious systemperformance issues. A subscription limit maximum of 100 is stronglyadvised. The Max number of Subscriptions restriction for each user preventsoverloading of the Presence/Application module by malicious users andsupports general engineering purposes.Typically, Max number of Subscriptions for each user would be the numberof expected watching devices and be calculated as explained in thefollowing formula:([the maximum number of allowed friends based upon service setlimitations] + [1 for the user themselves]) * (maximum number of clients auser may have registered in username) + (some allowance for extrasubscriptions)Example15 August 2014 EXPERiUS Application Server NN48111-111 09.02Copyright © 2010-2014 GENBAND. Provisioning fundamentals 193([9 allowed friends] + [1]) * (3 clients) +5 = 35 subscriptions allowedCAUTIONSetting the maximum number of subscriptions is an engineeringactivity.Setting the maximum number of subscriptions to an arbitrary amountwithout proper engineering consideration can leave the Presence/Application Module exposed to potential risk of overload.Max number of Subscriptions GeneratedThis parameter controls the number of subscriptions from multiplewatching devices. The Max number of Subscriptions Generated is aservice set parameter for outbound subscriptions from a set of clientdevices for a given user. The Max number of Subscriptions Generated restriction preventsoverloading of the Presence/Application module by malicious users andsupports general engineering purposes.Provisioning fundamentalsThis section describes AS provisioning fundamentals, concepts, andstrategies.• “Administration overview” (page 194)• “Domain management” (page 196)• “Service profile and service set management” (page 202)• “Resource management” (page 203)• “Lightweight Directory Access Protocol synchronization (LDAP Sync)”(page 203)• “User management” (page 211)• “IP Client Managers provisioning” (page 213)• “Voice Mail servers provisioning” (page 213)• “Mobile Converged Desktop provisioning” (page 214)• “Service Nodes setup ” (page 214)• “Border Control Point 7000 Series provisioning” (page 216)• “Password Policy management” (page 217)• “Location management” (page 219)• “Understanding Telephony Routing and Translations” (page 222)15 August 2014 Product Description NN48111-111 09.02Copyright © 2010-2014 GENBAND.
