However, they can use the Personal Agent to see ifthe service is provisioned for them.MVNO Converged MobilityThis section describes Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO)Converged Mobility.Feature descriptionMVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) are re-sellers of wirelessservices who typically do not own their own infrastructure. With theemergence of Wireless LAN-type access for voice, the introduction of"MVNO-Lite" is effective as an entry-level Converged Mobility solution.This feature enables new or existing MVNO carriers to have a presence inthe growing VoIP market through an IETF SIP network."MVNO-Lite" service is also referred to as AS Converged Mobility service.AS Converged Mobility service enables subscribers to• exist in two networks, SIP WLAN and Cellular, at the same time• utilize the less costly Broadband Access WLAN for voice calls• take advantage of AS call-handling capabilities, particularly PersonalAgent Advanced Routing, when applicableMVNO Converged Mobility allows carriers to let subscribers use a Multi-Mode Handset for voice capability over Wireless LAN or Cellular Wireless.The Multi-Mode Handset has two distinct identities, one on each network. Itcan be registered on both networks at the same time, depending onwireless coverage. When the MMH client is registered on both networks atthe same time, it is dependent upon the chosen client to select WLAN overcellular when initiating a call. Since it is possible for an MMH to beregistered on the SIP network yet have no connection to the WLAN (walkoutside of the coverage area), the registration on the SIP network is notenough to determine availability.The mechanism to determine the availability of the WLAN relies on theresponse to an INVITE. A configurable timer monitors the response of anINVITE. If the timer expires, this indicates that the WLAN is not availableand the call is then sent to the cellular network with the MMH client’scellular DN. The user can be registered with the same user id on differentclients (IP 2004, GENCom for Windows, or MMH client). Services 61Network Transformation Overlay ServicesThe purpose for this feature is to provide the convergence of SIP clientsand TDM Lines by providing the following capabilities:• The feature enables the AS to simultaneously ring a SIP linesubscriber’s registered SIP devices and TDM Network TransformationOverlay Services for incoming calls.• The feature enables the subscriber’s Presence state to be shown as“Active on the Phone - AOTP” even when a call is answered on a TDMline.• The feature also provides support to the Network TransformationOverlay Services subscriber for Call Grabber service and for AdvancedScreening service.• The feature enables delivery of the same set of advanced services toC20 Hosted Legacy Lines as can be offered to Legacy Lines hosted offof other switches. There is no need, however, to port the non-SIP lineto the C20–AS since it is already hosted there. A NetworkTransformation Overlay Services line can be any non-SIP line, such asan NCS Line or a CICM Line.To configure the Network Transformation Overlay Services service for asubscriber, the initial DN assigned to the subscriber’s TDM line is ported tothe C20 and assigned to the subscriber’s SIP line. The fixed line hosted onthe DMS or C20 switch is then provisioned with a “Shadow DN". The “Setup directory number” (SDNA) command is used to set the CLI of the TDMline to the line’s real DN so that the real DN (sipline DN) is communicatedas the CLI to the terminator for calls placed from that TDM line. Likewise,the SPB (special billing option) is also assigned to the TDM line to set theANI of the TDM line to reflect the real DN. This preserves transparency ofthe line with regard to billing records and emergency services. The"shadow DN" for the TDM line is then assigned to the C20 SIP line as aparameter of the Network Transformation Overlay Services service.Whenever a call is received by the Network Transformation OverlayServices subscriber, the AS forks a session to the TDM “shadow DN”through the SST. Calls placed to Network Transformation Overlay Serviceslines can be routed to different SSTs through translations. To enable this tooccur, a prefix is needed since there is no way to translate the call usingthe Shadow DNs assigned to the Network Transformation OverlayServices lines. To complete the routing, an “Audio Device prefix” is addedin front of the Shadow DN.
