62 Services and featuresNetwork Transformation Overlay Services call processingThere are two primary call processing scenarios for NetworkTransformation Overlay Services service:• Origination, during which a fixed line sends a Call Grabber request tograb an answered call on a SIP client.• Termination, during which a Network Transformation Overlay Servicessubscriber receives a call.A C20-EXPERiUS SIP Line receives its telephony service set from the C20and it is used for any hosted SIP phone clients. The TDM POTS phonereceives its telephony service set from the DMS or C20 switch on which itis hosted.Network Transformation Overlay Services call originationCall Grabber occurs between the TDM POTS phone, registered SIPdevice, and Mobile Phone (if the subscriber has the Mobile Extensionservice as well). In calls originated or received on any of the SIP devicesregistered against their AS account, subscribers can grab a call from anyof the other registered SIP devices. Once an incoming call is answered ontheir TDM POTS phone, subscribers can grab the call using their SIPphone. Conversely, if an incoming call is answered on their SIP phone,subscribers can grab the call using their TDM POTS phone. In calls thatoriginate from their SIP phone, subscribers can grab the calls from theirTDM POTS Phone. Subscribers can also grab TDM phone calls originatedfrom their Mobile Extension Mobile Device that have been routed throughthe AS.Since TDM line-originated calls are not routed through the AS, the AS doesnot have any information about established calls originated from TDMlines. As a result, there is no ability to grab TDM line-originated calls from aSIP phone or from a Mobile Extension user’s Mobile Extension MobileDevice.Network Transformation Overlay Services call terminationAn incoming call to a Network Transformation Overlay Services subscriberrings both the TDM POTS line hosted off of the DMS or C20 switch and theSIP-registered client hosted off of the C20-EXPERiUS, simultaneously.The call can be answered from either device. An incoming call to aNetwork Transformation Overlay Services subscriber is delivered to theShadow DN regardless of any SIP clients that may be registered.Since Network Transformation Overlay Services and Mobile Extension areindependent services, a Network Transformation Overlay Servicessubscriber may also be assigned Mobile Extension service. Services 63assigned Mobile Extension service are also delivered to the MobileExtension Mobile Device using the mobile DN provisioned for thesubscriber.When an incoming call is answered by any one of a user’s devices, theother devices stop ringing. This includes any registered clients, NetworkTransformation Overlay Services line, Mobile Extension Mobile Device, orany destination that has been defined as a route through the PersonalAgent by the subscriber.If the session to the shadow DN is released back toward the AS prior toanswer, the AS continues to offer the call to any registered SIP Lines. If noSIP lines are registered, the call is released back toward the originator.Incoming calls to a Network Transformation Overlay Services subscriberare subject to routing that has been defined through a subscriber’sPersonal Agent. For example, a Network Transformation Overlay Servicessubscriber may have set up simultaneous ringing or sequential ringingPersonal Agent rules. If the Personal Agent rules include ringing thesubscriber's "client", then the call is delivered to the NetworkTransformation Overlay Services Shadow DN.PresenceThe AS can be configured to dynamically change subscribers’ Presencestate to “Active On The Phone” when they start a call using a SIP deviceand back to the previous Presence state when the call is finished. For aNetwork Transformation Overlay Services subscriber this capability isincluded for calls on a fixed line. Calls on the fixed line or SIP-registeredclients cause a change to the “Active On The Phone” state only when thecall is established. The state is not changed during the call setup phaseeither for originations or for terminations. The Presence state is notchanged when a call is originated from a TDM POTS device since that typeof call is not routed through the AS.The Presence Idle state for a subscriber not involved in a call is dependenton the SIP device that the subscriber is using. For example, a SIP devicerunning on a PC may change the Presence state from “Active Available” to“Connected Inactive” when the subscriber has not used the associateddevice keyboard or mouse for a specified amount of time.
