General comments on thecriteria used in establishing the radiological protection standardsare followed by an examination of the basic standards and the practicalstandards.The fourth part deals with the health supervision of workersexposed to ionizing radiation and covers both physical and medicalcontrol. Physical control is necessary to keep track of radiologicalinjury. Its main purpose is to provide an estimate of the doses absorbedby workers due to exposure to external irradiation or toradioactive contamination. Medical control is designed to provideall necessary information on the health of workers before, duringand after employment. Special attention is given to medical recordsin view of their importance from the legal standpoint.2
