County Offers OnlineConvenience for DeclaringBusiness PropertyOnce again for 2007 business personalproperty online declaration filingis available at: http://www.douglas.co.us/assessor. If you own, lease, orborrow business personal property with a total market value greater than$2,500, you must report the property to the county assessor no later thanApril 16, 2007. Douglas County Assessor, Teri Cox, has mailed a PersonalProperty Declaration form to every person known to have taxable businesspersonal property in the county as of January 1, 2007.Both the printed and online formats show equipment declared by yourbusiness for 2006. If there are no changes, simply state so on the declaration, sign, and return the schedule or check the appropriate box on theonline form. For changes, list items acquired that are not on the list (includingthe cost of each) and strike through, or delete, any items traded, sold, or destroyed. If you had a business operating in Douglas County on January 1 and didnot receive a declaration, a blank form is available on the assessor websiteunder “Forms/Information” in the “Quicklinks” section. Smaller buseswill be replaced this spring with three 33-foot buses able to carry up to32 passengers each. The new bigger buses almost double the number ofpeople who can take advantage of the free transit service, which is operatedby CATCO and supported by the Town of Castle Rock. The buses being replaced have been in service since 2002 and last yeardrivers had to deny service to 680 people because there was simply noroom on the smaller buses. “These new buses will go a long way towardhelping with peak-hour crowding,” said David Menter, transportationplanner for the Town. But size isn’t the only advantage of the new buses - external route signsmounted on the front, will indicate the route the bus is following and itsdestination. There will also be a “passenger stop request system” insideso that passengers inside the bus can alert the driver to their stop withouthaving to verbally ask the driver. Like the existing buses, the new buseswill have a bike rack. For information about the local bus routes and schedules, visit the TownWeb site, www.CRgov.com.Douglas County Experiences Successful First Month ofOnline License Plate RenewalResidents may renew their license plates online in the convenience of theirown home, with access 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
