REDOX

REDOX 7Balancing Redox EquationsThe best way of balancing redox reactions is the half cellmethod. Break up the overall rxn into 2 half-cell rxns:one for the reduction and one for the oxidation. Wethen want to multiply each half cell reaction to make theoverall # of electrons the same so they cancel out.Note that this fairly simple rxn (and many redox rxns)could have been balanced the “normal” way. But if it isa redox rxn and looks “hard”, use the half cell method.
