Job SpecificationClybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs wishes to appoint a Part Time (18.5 hours) ChildcareBusiness Development Officer for Gwynedd to cover a period of maternity leave fromOctober 2011 until July 2012. The post is office based, within the Colwyn Bay Office.The post will require a flexible approach to work, and the ability to absorb the knowledge ofworking with local authorities.The salary of £12,202 per annum is based on a 18.5-hour week, payable monthly bycredit transfer. The work demands flexible hours and may include evening, weekend andoccasional nights away from home. There are 28 days holiday pro rata plus publicholidays. The holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December.Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs operates a stakeholder pension scheme in conjunctionwith Aviva, formally Norwich Union. Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs pays a 6%contribution of salary monthly into the pension scheme. Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubsalso provide corporate health cover through Simply Health, whereby after a six-monthprobationary period, employees who are confirmed in post receive HealthSure Cover –free of charge – and the option to pay for additional cover for spouse / partner andchildren.A car is essential and a mileage allowance is payable when on Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids'Clubs business. Out of pocket expenses incurred while on Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids'Clubs business are also paid for subsistence and travel, within a limit. Expenses are paidmonthly in arrears.BackgroundThere are approximately 1400 out of school clubs across Wales, 59 of which are inGwynedd. Each group is autonomous. The clubs come together to share experiences,training opportunities and to support each other at network / support evenings which theChildcare Business Development Officer and Support Worker organise.Three Team Leaders line manage the Childcare Business Development Officers acrossWales. In some cases Childcare Business Development Officers are responsible for thedevelopment of new childcare places within 2 counties.A voluntary Board of Trustees or Directors make the policy decisions of Clybiau PlantCymru Kids' Clubs. These people are elected annually and are drawn from Out of SchoolClubs across Wales.Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs was formed in October 2001 as an independent voluntaryorganisation. The work supporting the development of out of school clubs was previouslyhosted by Chwarae Teg and was funded by the former Training and Enterprise Councils inWales.The Childcare Business Development Officers play a key role in the development ofClybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs. There are a number of Childcare Business DevelopmentOfficers and a further 5 Training and Officers across the 3 regions. The regions are North,July 2011

West and South East Wales. The Director of Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs, and a coreteam of staff are based in the Cardiff Office. There are regional offices in Swansea andColwyn Bay. All Wales staff meetings are also held annually in Mid Wales.Administrative support will be provided in the Colwyn Bay Office. Part time SupportWorkers are employed to visit the clubs to encourage and support their work and adviseon quality issues. The Training Officers are also closely linked with this work. TheChildcare Business Development Officers will work closely with the Support Workers, whowill be home based.There is a need for ongoing support, help and signposting to new and existing clubs.Childcare Business Development Officers will need an understanding of spreadsheets,together with the ability to use Excel, in order to carry out their work.The post of Childcare Business Development Officer is ideal for someone who has a beliefin community development and in providing safe, happy environments for children throughbreakfast/before school clubs, after school clubs and holiday clubs.
