17 October, 2011ISSN 0795-3089Vol. 6 No. 41FG Urges Private Varsities to Key into EducationSector AgendaThe Vice-President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Architect MohammedNamadi Sambo, GCON, has called on private universities in the country to key intoPresident Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda, particularly as itaffected the education sub-sector. He stated this at the 3 rd Convocation Ceremony ofCrescent University, Abeokuta, OgunState, held on Saturday, 8 October 2011,at the University’s Main Auditorium.The Vice-President, represented by theHonourable Minister of State forEducation (HMSE), Chief (Barr.) NyesomEzebunwo Wike, said that the importanceof education in the actualization of theTransformation Agenda could not be overemphasized, being the sector that wouldtrain the critical mass of the manpowerneeds of Nigeria, adding that, Governmentwould continue to create a conduciveatmosphere, as well as provide support toprivate investors in the sector, in order toexpand access to education. He alsocharged all stakeholders to be prepared forthe challenges ahead so as to place theNigerian education System on the globalmap.Arc. Okojie, urged universities to take Mr.President’s Transformation Agenda seriously by implementing it in their various campuses.
