Counting can run repeatedly with the lastcompleted result visible in the main display while new countsaccumulate in the auxiliary display. The GM voltage can be adjusted in 1 V steps from 300 V to700 V.When turned on, the counter operates silently, but for demonstrationpurposes the “authentic” clicking Geiger-countersound may be turned on.The counter accepts both BNC and Jack type GM tubes. The current consumption of the counter is low, allowing it torun continuously for days on the six AA-cells provided. If thecounter is not counting, it turns off automatically after onehour. The counter can also be powered from a mains adapter(not included). With the optional USB adapter, the GM counter can be connectedto a computer. Another option is a pulse output cable(for further hardware processing).5136.00 Geiger counterGM Counter with built-in tubeThis handheld Geiger counter is a flexible and affordable device– especially developed with schools and other educationalinstitutions in mind. The built-in GM tube is sensitive to alpha, beta and gamma radiation. The counter has 8 fixed count periods (1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50,60 or 100 s).Display of dose rate (μSv/h) related to Cs-137.Max, min and average view for mSv/hr and CPS.GM tube voltage can be adjusted between 400 and 700 V,while showing count rate.Use the built-in Geiger tube with its protective cap in place forgamma radiation – or remove the cap to expose the sensitivewindow when working with alpha or beta radiation. For use with a larger audience, a separate display (IM-159810)can be connected. (Cable IM-159510 is needed for this.)The counter runs on a single 9 V battery.5135.45 GM Counter with built-in tube5135.455136.005125.18Hand-held radioactivity meterThis handheld Geiger counter can be used with any GM tubewith BNC connector, but is especially suited for the cable-lesstube 5125.18 mentioned below. The counter has 8 fixed count periods (1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60or 100 s). Display of dose rate (μSv/h) related to Cs-137 (whenused with 5125.15 or 5125.18). Max, min and average view formSv/hr and CPS. GM tube voltage can be adjusted between400 and 700 V, while showing count rate. For use with a larger audience, a separate display (IM-159810)can be connected. (Cable IM-159510 is needed for this.)The counter runs on a single 9 V battery.IM-157010 Radioactivity meter, hand-heldCompact GM Tube with BNC connectorThis cable-less GM tube is developed for use together with theIM-157010 radioactivity meter. The protective cap included should be removed whenworking with alpha or beta radiation while gamma radiation easilypenetrates the cap.The tube itself is identical with the tube in 5125.15.5125.18 GM Tube without cable, BNCIM.157010®science

Atomic and nuclear physics127Universal counterOur universal counter 2002.50 connects directly to a GMsensor with jack connector – i.e. 5135.70 (standard tube) or5135.65 (large area tube).Counting time can be set to 1 s, 10 s, 60 s or 100 s – or you canmanually start and stop the counting. For all the fixed times, acontinuous mode can be selected for repeated counting. With a 25 mm high LED display, this counter is ideal for demonstrationexperiments in the classroom. The counter is provided with an RS232 serial interface for connectionto a PC and is compatible with the Datalyse data loggingprogram.A more detailed description of the counter is given on page 7.2002.50 Counter2002.50Serial cable RS23225 pin M / 25 pin F25 pin male/25 pin female.1123.20Connects Geiger counters5135.35 or 2002.50 to PCswith 25-pin serial ports.1123.20 Serial cable RS232 25 pin M / 25 pin FPower adapter(for 5136.00 and others)12 V power supply, compatible with a lotof Frederiksen equipment: 5136.00,5138.00, 4060.50 (new), 1770.00,IM-159810, 2211.00, 2002.503550.50 Mains adapter 12V1,5A DC plug 2,1mm– European plug only3550.50Accessories for GeigercountersDatalyseSoftware for use with Geiger-Müller counters 5136.00, or2002.50 (communicates with other Frederiksen instrumentsas well) when logging data on PC.
