Our HosesJet aircraft, vintage railway engines, smartpowerboats, roadsweepers and constructionsite diggers. All use hand-built hoses fromthe Cerambond Division of Halyard - aspecialist business dedicated to producinghand-made hoses for powerboat exhausts, railway vacuum brake systems, aircraft fuelsupply lines, roadsweeper vehicles, concretedelivery, survival suit inflation systems, hospitals, food processing and hundreds ofother specialist applications.Cerambond has been making hoses since 1975.Blue chip customers came gradually; some havebeen with us since the company started, someare more recent, but one and all depend on ourconsistent quality and reliable delivery. Our hose construction index provides us withthe basis to build hoses for over 150 differentuses, often in very small quantities, occasionallyto hugely demanding test specifications foruse in extreme hostile environments. A digger, working in the 50 degree centigrade heat of theArabian Gulf, uses our hose in the hydraulicfluid return system. A commercial pilot vesselmeeting a ship 30 miles off the Nigerian coastuses our hose to carry exhaust gasses fromtwin 1,000hp diesels to the hull outlets. Afighter aircraft taking off from the deck of anaircraft carrier uses our hoses to carry fuel to itsengines. And a railway preservation society usesour vacuum hoses to connect a train’s brakingsystem, specially made in tiny batches to ensurehistory can continue. Our hoses are exportedall over the world. The railways of Africa, connectors for the Swedish automotive industry, survival suits used in hazardous situationseverywhere, and marine exhaust hose for boatsand commercial craft around the globe.Lloyds ApprovedMarine DieselExhaust HoseThe processCerambond hoses use carefully controlledLining and Cover rubber with a wide selectionof reinforcements in carefully designed layersto ensure that pressure, temperature and otheroperating requirements are met. Each layer iswound carefully, by hand, onto slowly rotatingmandrels up to 12 metres long. Wire and tyrecord reinforcements are added between layers,as each hose builds gradually to a carefullyconsidered specification. Organic rubbers usecarbon based long chain monomers bondedby heat, and specialised cross linking agents toform a tough, durable product tailored for itsenvironment and application.Alternatively, we use a wide range of silicon, created from silica and chemically modified toproduce silicon hoses which take very muchhigher temperatures than traditional neopreneand nitrile rubber hoses. Silicon hoses are alsoused where looks count – for instance in theengine room of an expensive powerboat.Finished products are heat cured under pressure beforebeing removed from their mandrels, and pass inspectionprior to despatch. Customers names and logos areadded as required, together with Lloyds, ISO, BS, andSAE approvals where relevant. The CompanyCerambond is part of Halyard, a specialist groupof businesses, established in 1979, manufacturingproducts for industry generally, and particularlythe marine world, at four sites on the southcoast of Britain. Products include acoustic hoodsfor pumps, exhaust systems for water injectedmarine diesels, noise insulation materials, stainless steel water injection systems for marineuse, filament wound glass reinforced polyestertube, and a huge range of products linked to thesuppression of noise and vibration on marinediesel engines.
