Thanks toStudents work diligently at the restaurant sponsoredby Papa John’s International in Sam Swope JABizTown.Bowling for JAIt’s All For the Kids! The Annual Bowling Classic is JA’s largest fundraiser. But it’s even more… the Bowling Classic is anopportunity for area companies to bowl, minglewith co-workers and friends, and celebrate theaccomplishments of having raised money for JA kids. And why shouldn’t they celebrate? Bowling Classicparticipants are helping 40,000 students learn aboutbusiness and finance. Organizations such as Brown-Forman, Citi, for years. Participation in the Bowling Classic isa great team-building event for any size business, church, or civic group.A great example of a Bowling Classic partner is theU.S. Census Bureau. David Hackbarth, directorof the U.S. Census Bureau processing center inJeffersonville, Indiana states, “In our office, this eventcontinues to grow. And as its popularity grows, ithas also become a great team building opportunityfor the division.”organizations that provide the financial support, JA’sin-school programs are free to students and schoolsthroughout Kentuckiana.Corporate sponsors not only provide the financialsupport for JA programs, but many companies alsoencourage their employees to volunteer to teach JAcourses. One strong example of a business partnership withJA is Papa John’s International, Inc. For several yearsPapa John’s has partnered with Junior Achievementon a local and national level. This partnershiphas resulted in a local donation valued at morethan $60,000. In addition, Papa John’s employeesvolunteer to teach JA programs in classrooms acrossthe country. Papa John’s most recent collaborationwas to sponsor the “restaurant” in Sam Swope JABizTown. While the “restaurant” doesn’t actuallyserve pizza, it teaches students how to run a businessand work as a team.Time has shown that JA partnerships are win-winfor all parties. Organizations involved with JA areproud to serve our region’s students with such lifechangingprograms and the students learn skills thatwill help them succeed in a global economy. For more information on partnering with JA,call 502-561-KIDs or visit www.jaky.org.Census Bureau employees Melissa Baker, PamelaSlack, Cindy Matheny, & Dan Matheny strike up agreat time while bowling for JA.The U.S. Census Bureau has increased theirinvolvement with JA over the years, striving to getall employees involved.
