�� Integrated assessment addresses both mental health a substance<br />
abuse, each in the context of the other disorder.<br />
�� Integrated assessment seeks (1) to establish formal diagnoses (2) (2)<br />
evaluate levels of functioning (i.e. current cognitive capacity, social<br />
skills, and other abilities) to identify factors that could interfere interfere<br />
with<br />
the ability to function independently and/or to follow treatment<br />
recommendations.(3) determine the clients readiness for change and and<br />
(4) make initial decisions about appropriate levels of care.<br />
�� Integrated assessment should also consider cultural and linguistic linguistic<br />
issues, amount of social support, and special life circumstances (e.g.<br />
HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis) that may effect service choices and the<br />
clients ability to profit from them.<br />
