IETE strives hard to meet the present day and future requirements in thefield of Computer Science, Electronics, Communications and Information Technology.Periodic review and updating of the curriculum contents is done in tune with thestate-of-the-art. The aim of these reviews is not only to update and modernize thecontents but also to meet the ever growing technological demands and requirements.The syllabus is being revised and will be effective from December 2013 examinations.The new syllabus is framed with a strong foundation of basics, leading tocontemporary courses like Embedded Systems Design and Wireless and MobileCommunications. Students are given a strong background in five aspects -Circuit/Network aspect, Device aspect, Material aspect, Hardware and Softwareaspects, and finally but not the least Communication skHls and Technical writingaspect. To keep in time with modern industrial trends, we are introducingtopics/subjects related to IPR/Patent laws, Cyber crimes, EMC/EMI, Quality &Reliability etc. More flexibility is proposed in terms of electives and dual degreeprograms. Special exam in the month of Oct 2012 was conducted to help the studentsbelonging to the old syllabus to clear their programmes.It is the endeavor of IETE to empower the students from the weaker sectionsof the society from all over India including the inaccessible and remote areas byimparting technical education at a very affordable cost. The institution confers 54awards to IETE students for academic excellence in various examinations and hasinstituted 100 annuals scholarships 50 each in AMIETE and DipiETE. IETE has startedM-Tech stipend programmes to provide stipend to regular IETE Graduates for pursuingM-Tech studies anywhere.The real hurdle for students for completing the education is proper coachingin the subjects. Therefore alliETE Centres are being encouraged to gear up to provideContact Classes. To strengthen our efforts we have started a programme of educationthrough EDUSAT facility. A new SIT has been installed at KilT Gurgaon, which hasbeen operational from the last week of November 2012. IETE lectures have beenuploaded on YouTube and are accessible to everybody around world.Students Interaction Committee looks into all the grievances of the studentsand suggests ways and means of improving them. A sin le window concept has beenimplemented at the HQ IETE. Toll free No. 1800 102 5488 has been introduced atthe HQ through which the students can contact t e concerned section for theirqueries. New Schemes are being implemented to improve the examination system sothat the results are declared ahead of the scheduled time to facilitate the students intheir admission plans. Students can make all the payments through online payment
facilities. Efforts are also on to provide placement assistance to our students. It ishearting to know that there are many IETE alumni occupying very high positions inPrivate and Govt. Sectors.I wish you a very happy Students Day and urge you to make it a memorableone.~~(!PAL)President
