Authenticating• Some websites require HTTP authentication to gainaccess.• The most common authentication type is basicauthentication, in which the client transmits ausername and password to the server.• HTTP authentication isn't the same as authenticationbased on cookies and forms.• HTTP authentication is often combined withencrypted communication using SSL to helpsecure the transmission of authentication data suchas passwords.6
Authenticating• If you attempt to access a URL for which authentication isprovided, you'll normally get HTTP error 401(Authorization Required).• Algorithm :• Call function that allows the program to ask the operator for ausername and password when necessary.• Call function allows additional handlers to be specified.
