Parent & Child Aquatics (Ages 6 months to under 4 years)• Class size is limited to 10 parents & 10 children, and parents are in thewater with their child.• The focus of this class is to provide guidance to parents on what skills topractice with children until children are skilled or old enough to participatein a preschool class.• Children will explore submerging their mouth, nose, and eyes, and glidingon the their front and back with assistance.Preschool Aquatics – Level 1 (ages 4 to under 6)• Class size is limited to 4 children. Parents are not in the water.• This class is for beginners, ages 4 and 5, and focuses on submerging themouth, nose, and eyes, blowing bubbles through the mouth and nose,bobbing, and retrieving submerged objects.• Leg action and arm action on the front and back are introduced.Preschool Aquatics – Level 2 (ages 4 to under 6)• Class size is limited to 6 children, and is for children with swimming experience,ages 4 and 5.• Children should be familiar with the front crawl and back stroke, andfloating on their front and back.• Combined arm and leg actions on the front and back are practiced.• Treading water using arms and legs is introduced.Level 1 – Introduction to Water Skills (ages 6 and up)• Class size is limited to 6 children, and is for beginners, ages 6 and up.• Children learn to submerge the face, bob, retrieve submerged objects,and float on their front and back.• The focus of this class is on arm and leg action on the front and back.Level 2 – Fundamental Aquatic Skills (ages 6 and up)• Class size is limited to 6 children, and is for children with swimming experience,ages 6 and up.• Children should be familiar with both the front crawl and back stroke.These strokes will be reinforced.• Treading water using arms and legs is introduced.• Floating and gliding on the front and back is practiced.HIGH 5 BASKETBALL Ages 8-22Sponsored by BOCA HOOPS www.high5basketball.orgThe program consists of one-half hour of warm-up and skilldrills, followed by a one-half hour game, every week. Everyteam has an assigned coach and each child is assigned a “B-BallBuddy” to individually encourage and assist the child as neededthroughout the drills and game. The yardage swam is increased.• Flip turns in the front crawl and backstroke are introduced.Adults (ages 18 and up)• Class size is limited to 6 students, and is for swimmers of any skill level.From beginners to experienced swimmers, all are welcome.• Adults will be taught basic swimming skills leading up to and includingthe crawl stroke with rhythmic breathing, back floating, back crawl, andflip-turns.Adaptive Aquatics – Swim Lessons for Individualwith Special Needs (ages 4 and up)• Adaptive Aquatics is a one-on-one swim program for children and adultswith special needs.• This program is designed to help teach participants how to become morecomfortable in the water while learning essential swimming techniques ina fun environment.• Each session consists of eight 30-minutes lessons, to be scheduled onceper week for eight weeks.The City of Boca Raton Recreation Services Department is committed to supporting and complying with the American withDisabilities Act.
