Summary of the Data• <strong>Northridge</strong>’s free and reduced lunch percentage continues toincrease. Over the last seven years, we have seen growth fromapproximately 10% to 22%• We are missing the AYP goal in math and reading; however,subgroups like the Native American, African American, Hispanic,and Students with Disabilities population reached the goal inreading. The Caucasian, African American, and Hispanicpopulations reached the goal in math.• Students in grades 3,4,and 5 exceeded the typical growth target inreading.• Students in grades 3,4,5,and 6 exceeded the typical growth targetin math.• We continue monitoring and intervening on behavior and discipline.• We have noticed a change in absences and we will continue towork with families on attendance.


Balanced ScorecardGoals, Objectives,Strategies, and Activities• Students will meet their expected growth in Reading.oA 5% increase of Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grade students will Demonstrate a proficiency inreading at or above grade level and/or will meet their growth target in English Language Arts by05/23/2014 as measured by spring NWEA reading assessment datao 85% of Kindergarten, First and Second grade students will Demonstrate a proficiency in reading byTier 1 placement on the RTI triangle in English Language Arts by 05/23/2014 as measured by 2013and 2014 spring reading triangulation data.• Students will meet their expected growth in Math.oA 5% increase of Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grade students will Demonstrate a proficiency inmathematics at/or above grade level and/or will meet their growth target in Mathematics by05/23/2014 as measured by spring NWEA mathematics assessment data.o 85% of Kindergarten, First and Second grade students will Demonstrate a proficiency by Tier 1placement in Mathematics by 05/23/2014 as measured by the RTI triangle.


Summary of Reading Work• A leveled bookroom for teachers to supportdifferentiation and small group instruction• Zoo Phonics was integrated into our Kclassrooms• Phonics for Reading pilot• Nonfiction writing book study• DRA and Burns and Roe kits were used to placestudents in flexible reading groups/materials.• Second grade participated in a "Walk to Learn"model in order to meet diverse reading needs• PLC discussions centered on individual studentneeds• Reading teachers and staff collaborated tomatch interventions to student need.


Summary of Math Work• Calendar Math was purchased for all classes,which provided consistent math preview, review,practice, and discussion of math concepts andskills that align to grade level standards• Instructional aides were provided Key MathTraining• Grade 2 aligned supplemental Tier 2 interventionto classroom instruction• Grade 4 participated in the Fraction Nation pilot


Highlights from 2012-2013• PLCs narrowed their focus and targeted specific grade level goals• Monthly All-School PLC began this year and will continue in the fall• A specialist PLC was started at the end of the year but will continue next year.• ActivBoards were installed into all classrooms• Walk-to-learn student population increased to address individual student needs• Second Steps Program was implemented in grades K-1 with plans for grades 2-3implementation in 2013-2014• "I Can" statements are visible in every classroom• School wide behavior procedures (<strong>Northridge</strong> 5, school signal, voice zones, CPIteam) have been established and implemented with consistent documentation• Teachers participated in book studies to increase effectiveness• Student Council~ Red Ribbon week carnival, Open Your Heart Food Drive, NEDShow, New student open house tour guides, operation gratitude snacks for soldiers• Increased implementation of Junior Achievement in classrooms.• PTO New leadership and increased involvement from families.• Field Day for all <strong>Northridge</strong> students planned by Phy. Ed staff and led by students.


<strong>Northridge</strong> Elementary Next Steps2013-2014• Teachers will participate in DevelopingMathematical Ideas (DMI) Training tostrengthen core math instruction• Align supplemental Tier 2 interventions toclassroom instruction at all grade levels in mathand reading• Utilize MAP/triangulation growth details forindividual students to monitor progressthroughout the year• Integrate art into curriculum• Nonfiction writing
