NAPAMike Harper, Alabama DOT assistant chief engineer, presentedto Ray Brown a commendation from the Honorable Governorof the State of Alabama.president Mike Acott told the group of the importance ofBrown’s leadership. “The industry has been able to get adirect return on its investments at NCAT because of Ray’sleadership. He bridged the gap between industry, highwaydepartments, DOTs, and the FHWA. He fully understoodthe need for products, processes, and knowledge that helpedus specify and build long-lasting pavements.”Brown retired from Auburn August 1, 2007 after 17years as the director of NCAT to accept a position withthe U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Waterways ExperimentStation in Vicksburg, Miss.Larry Benefield, dean of engineering, honored Ray Brown with the title of professor emeritus.
