2013 University of Toledo Spring Football OutlookRockets Have the Firepower For aMAC Championship Title RunToledo, OH - The seniors on the University of Toledofootball team have a lot to be proud of.They are the class that has returned the Rockets to theelite of the Mid-American Conference. When they camein as freshmen in 2010, UT had just suffered through itsthird straight losing season. Fast forward to 2013, and allof that has changed. The Rockets have gone 26-13 in thepast three years, with three winning seasons and threebowl appearances. Toledo’s MAC record over that spanis a sparkling 20-4.And yet the seniors’ biggest goal —and the goal ofthe entire football program—has not yet been reached.This class of Rockets won’t be satisfied until it hoists theMAC Championship trophy above its collective heads inDetroit’s Ford Field.Toledo definitely has the talent to achieve its goal.The Rockets return 16 starters, including an offense thatfeatures five All-MAC players and a senior quarterback,Terrance Owens, who has 17 starts to his credit over thelast three years.The biggest question that remains is the defense.Head Coach Matt Campbell must find a way to adjust tothe loss of eight starters, including the nation’s leadingtackler in 2012, linebacker Dan Molls.“At the end of the day, our goals remain the same,”said Campbell, whose team went 9-4 in his debut seasonin 2012. “We want to win the MAC West Division, win theMAC Championship Game, go to a bowl game and getour team GPA to as close to a 3.0 as possible. But to getthere, we need to focus on the process. We need to workhard at getting better every day. That’s the only way Iknow how to reach your goals.”The following is an overview of the Rockets as they headinto 2013 spring practice:OffenseFor the first time since 2009, there will not be a battlefor the starting quarterback position in the Rockets’ trainingcamp.
