Proverbs1:21“She crieth inthe chief placeof concourse,in the openingsof the gates: inthe city sheuttereth herwords, saying,”Parson to Person! FRIEND DAY isTHIS Sunday. And, believeit or not, it is not too late toinvite people. I plan ahead, compile a prospect list, andbegin inviting months inadvance. Saturday I will callall those promised guests toremind them. Sometimesthey forgot because I didinvite them so long ago . . .if I do not keep reminding them, that canhappen. However, I have asked people the weekbefore Friend Day, and they actually were ableto come. So, will you make an honest effort thisweek to bring visitors? This outreach effort isworth our time and energy . . . IF . . . we rea!ybelieve in hell.MISSIONS FOCUS AT STBT ISnormally thought to be in the fall as we preparefor our annual missions conference that hasalways started the first Wednesday ofNovember. But, May is going to feel like aMissions month with all the other activitygoing on!! Sunday night May 12 th we will behonored to have our missionary to Lebanon,Brother Lyall Armstrong, with us. He is inChicago to do some work on his doctorate atthe University of Chicago, and planning to bewith us that Sunday night. What a greatblessing from the Lord on Mother’s Day, tohave a missionary like Lyall to speak.! Then, the following Sunday, we willhave another awesome missionary with us allday. . . David Homer, missionary to Taiwan will bepreaching both in the morning and the eveningservices! He is another incredibly gifted preacherand this unexpected visit is another one of thekind blessings from our great God.! A MEN’S GOLF RETREAT ATCamp Joy in Wisconsin is May 17-18. The costof $145 covers two green fees, overnightaccommodations, prizes, steak dinner, a hugebreakfast, and cookout for lunch. As youknow, my dad, was the firststudent at BBC to graduatewith a 4.0 and many have since May 1968. Well,Torsten will be the second student from STBTto graduate with a 4.0, Lord willing! He will be at STBT on Mother’s DayMay 12 th to rejoin STBT and we will have acommissioning service as we will be his sendingchurch. He will spend a year interning afterwhich, we will consider officially ordaining himinto the gospel ministry. This is another reasonwhy I have such great respect formissionaries . . . it is quite a lengthy road fromyielding to the call of the Holy Spirit to gettrained and prepared to actually get to themission field.THE MEN’S BIBLE STUDY hasbeen such a blessing to me. First of all, I amoverwhelmed at the number of men (40) thathave signed up and are participating. Thediscussions and testimonies have been a greatencouragement to one another. And thecamaraderie is incredible. If the men respond tothe Spirit and the Word that has been present, this is going to be a ‘growing spurt’ in many ofthe men’s spiritual growth!! KIDS SUMMER CHURCH willbegin next month! This year, our newlyweds Tylerand Sarah Bolin will be leading this 10-weekadventure! The Parvises not only led it lastsummer, but mentored this outstanding couple toready them to take the lead . . . and I am pumpedto see how well they have moved right into thecaptain’s chair with a humble confidence. Oursingles department (Clayhouse) will be theministers serving and operating this hybrid of VBSfor 10 consecutive Sundays beginning the firstSunday of June through August 4 th . Our summerinterns, Justin Beam, Joe Monds and MichaelValdez will also be helping.2
