Thetime-lapse recorder shall not be a modified consumer unit. The time-lapse recorder shall be <strong>VHS</strong> compatible. Thetime-lapse recorder shall be built using a steel chassis with brushless direct drive motors and without belts for tapetransport. Tape tension shall be controlled electronically. The recorder shall have a built-in automatic head cleaner.The time-lapse recorder shall deliver a horizontal resolution of more than 240 lines in color and 370 lines inblack-and-white (Hi-Band mode). The time-lapse recorder shall provide on-screen programming, shall beprogrammable without a camera connected and shall provide limited programming on a built-in display without avideo monitor. The recorder shall have video heads for high density recording. 24-hour recording mode shall provideno less than 11.9 fields/sec. rate of recording.
