Jellyfish that cause ‘catastrophic fish kills’© Nigel Motyer• There are four species that have causedmajor fish kills in the past– The mauve stinger (Pelagia noctiluca)– Muggiaea atlanticum– Solmaris corona– Apolemia uvaria• Most of these are oceanic or shelf species(i.e. they need to be carried into yousalmon site)• Some of them can multiple very rapidly(10 days)• Typical high densities are: 100m 3 , 1000m 3 ,1000m 3 and 10m 3 respectively© Nigel Motyer
