FEATURELETTER FROM CLUB’s PRESIDENTSingapore National Age Group Swimming Championships 2012Winning 12 more Gold medals compared to last year, our Junior team did exceptionally wellat this year’s Singapore National Age Group Swimming Championships held from 10 to 11March at the Singapore Sports School. Dylan Koo did it again by winning the most Goldmedals for the Club. This time, he bagged 8 Gold medals and broke 2 national records,which led him to win the SNAG Most Valuable Player Award for the 8 – 12 Years Old age group. Maximillian Angdid the Club proud by winning 7 Gold medals and breaking 1 national record. Charity Lien performed beyondexpectations, winning 4 Gold medals and breaking 2 national records. Swimmers who also performed well wereChristie Chue and Anthony Wong, bagging 3 Gold medals each, Natalie Ho and Michael Yong who bagged 2 Goldmedals each, and Constance Lien and Jasmine Tan with 1 Gold medal each.First and foremost, I would like to thank all members who took time to attend the 97thAnnual General Meeting held on 29 April 2012 at the Activity Suites. Please keep a lookoutfor the updates on the various proposals raised at the AGM in the next issue of thisnewsletter.The Sports Awards was held recently on 20 April 2012 to give recognition to ourSportsmen and Sportswomen who had done exceptionally well in the various sportsand competitions they took part in. My congratulations to all the winners and I urgethem to continue to train hard to bring glory to the Club and the Nation.Our swimming team again tasted sweet victory at the 43rd SNAG SwimmingChampionships 2012. Mylene improved her 100MFreestyle timing by 1.5 seconds and the 50M Freestyle by0.22 seconds, both of which also met the “B” qualifyingmarks for the 2012 Olympics! Marina broke her own 50mFreestyle record by 0.12 seconds and also went on to win2 Silver medals.The months of May and June provide great opportunities to catch up with your lovedones, especially Mum and Dad. The Club is pleased to unveil a series of exclusivecelebratory and festive spreads such as the Sunday Buffet Brunch at Man Zhu café.Those who have registered for the Mother’s Day Tunch cum Floral Demonstration canexpect awesome ideas to surprise Mum with floral designer extraordinaire, EdwinPereira in attendance. Those who yearn to take a break from the daily hustle and bustle of lifewill find reprieve in the One Day Durian Fiesta and Shopping at Johor Premium Outlets. SPORTS / PAST EVENTSSPORTS / PAST EVENTSSwimming By Lyuina LeeMidget Age Group Swimming Meet 2012 (I)Held on 25 February 2012, 106 participants aged 8 and under took part in the first of the two annual midget meets.Quite a few new faces were seen competing in their first race since joining the Club and some even won theirfirst trophy!We certainly hope to see our budding swimmers participate in the second midget meet in July, which is also theselection meet for the annual interclub open midget competition in September. Keep up the good work!Tennis By Leroy YapTennis Friendly Match with Changi Beach ClubOur Tennis Section invited Changi Beach Club for a friendly match on 3 March. After having welcomed theopposing team, the game finally took off and before anyone knew it, the players were already having an enjoyabletime over tea break. Besides the game, both clubs had a great time bonding and establishing friendship too.CSC Team Challenge and Annual Dinner 2011/12.The Team Challenge held on 19 February at the CSC Tennis Courts attracted 35 members. The players displayedgreat passion for the sport and fought hard for every point to win the match. Congratulations to Blue Team forclinching the Champion.A sumptuous dinner was then held at the Activity Suite. In addition to the great fun and the wonderful door gifts,everyone was also rewarded with a lucky draw prize winning.Group photo at the CSC Team ChallengeCSC Tennis Mixed Doubles Championships 2011/12This year’s championships were held on 4 & 5February and it drew 20 players. With only one aimin mind, the sportsmen and women gave their bestfor the game, to win the title of the mixed doubles inCSC.
