Portable Vibration MeterModel 5500Velocity Measurements- Intrinsically SafeCompact and simple to operate, these economical units are ideal for obtainingspot measurements of machine vibration. Pressing the ON button activates theunit. A vibration reading is then obtained by simply holding the probe tip againstthe machine and observing the reading on the LCD indicator. Comparisons to avibration severity chart (Page 6.11) indicate acceptance condition. This vibration meter is available with English or metric units. Pressingand holding the ON button will “freeze” the vibration reading such that theunit can be removed from the test point without losing the reading.Releasing the button returns the unit to normal operation.Carrying case (included)Power is supplied by a standard 9V battery. A symbol appears on the LCDindicator when the battery is low. The instrument housing is made of highimpact polymer. A carrying case with belt loop and battery are included.Optional accessories include a 10” probe extension for difficult to reach areasand a shaft rider fork for measuring the vibration of exposed shafts.5PortableProductsFeatures• Accurate, piezo-electricaccelerometer sensor• Quick vibration readings• Includes reading “hold” feature• Auto power off extends battery life• Alkaline 9V battery included• Model 5500 is intrinsically safefor use in hazardous areas• True RMS velocity responseTypical Radial Vibration Casing MeasurementApplications• Supplement to FFT analyzers• Motors• Pumps• Compressors• Fans• Natural Gas Engines• Piping Vibration• Check Vibration Instrument ReadingsVerifying a Vibration Instrument MeasurementApplication Note:For a recording vibration meter withapplication software, see ModelSH2000.5.3Corporate Office • 1711 Townhurst Dr. • Houston, TX 77043-2899 • metrix1.com • sales@metrix1.comTel: 713-461-2131 • 800-638-7494 (US) • Fax: 713-461-8223
