Made in U.S.A.From Forge to FinishYou’d think it’d be easy to figure out ifsomething’s “Made in U.S.A.” If it’s made inAmerica from materials that come from withinthe 50 states, then it’s “Made in U.S.A,”whether it’s a gym shoe or a ratchet set.Seems simple enough to us at Armstrong ®Industrial Hand Tools.Even the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)has historically agreed that “all or virtuallyall” of the components and processes usedto make a product must be of U.S. origin toearn the “Made in U.S.A.” honor. But some manufacturers have wanted towrap themselves in red, white andblue…while using foreign-made componentsor processes in their products. They tried to get the FTC to relax the rulesdetermining what’s “Made in U.S.A.”They said that partially America-made isclose enough to call it “Made in U.S.A.”We said that a partial truth is still a lie, andyou said that “Made in U.S.A.” should meanjust that. And the rest of America agrees. After two years of public hearings, studiesand reports, in December 1997 the FTCreaffirmed the obvious:A product will be considered“…all or virtuallyall made in theUnited States”only where “allsignificant partsand processingthat go into theproduct are of U.S.origin.”At Armstrong Industrial Hand Tools webelieve that stamping our products “Made inU.S.A.” is a privilege that must be earned. You should know that:• Armstrong ratchets, sockets, wrenchesand accessories are “Made in U.S.A.” —from forge to finish.• We are proud to assure you thatArmstrong Industrial Hand Tools marked“Made in U.S.A.” have earned the honor. So the next time one of Armstrong’scompetitors tries to push off ratchets, sockets or wrenches made from foreignforgings as “Made in U.S.A.,” ask them forthe honest truth.
