Detailed interpretation <strong>of</strong> each indicator is shown below:<br />

Data analysis showed that there was no significant difference in heart<br />

rate between newborns with s<strong>of</strong>t music and no music. Probably this is<br />

because the newborn was still in a transition phase from full dependence on<br />

their mother. In this condition newborns pay more attention to adaptation<br />

to internal physical activity. So added stimulation from outside seems not to<br />

influence their internal physical activity very much.<br />

In spite <strong>of</strong> that, if we look in more detail at picture 1, we can see<br />

that there is a slight visual trend, though not statistically significant, in the<br />

direction <strong>of</strong> greater calmness for the experimental group.<br />
