Interview<br />

The JVC Handbook states that:<br />

Applicants should normally be accepted onto a course only after<br />

interview by a State Registered Arts Therapist (i.e., <strong>Music</strong> Therapist for<br />

music therapy trainings) and assessment <strong>of</strong> artistic (musical)<br />

accomplishment. They would also have to demonstrate that they meet<br />

the criteria stated in the Entry Requirements section above<br />

General Content for All Three Modalities<br />

Practice:<br />

Theory:<br />

Courses must include:<br />

- Personal therapy<br />

- Clinical work practice<br />

- Personal supervision<br />

- Groupwork as participant and facilitator<br />

- Skills training in the modality<br />

- Further practical experience and training in the relevant art<br />

form<br />

- Practical experience <strong>of</strong> art forms akin to the main modality<br />

- Writing <strong>of</strong> case studies, management reports, records<br />

Courses must include:<br />

-Study <strong>of</strong> relevant art form, psychology, psychiatry, sociology,<br />

psychotherapy, group and individual work, the therapeutic<br />

relationship and management <strong>of</strong> the therapeutic process, the<br />

supervision process, cultural and ethical issues, procedures for<br />

assessment and evaluation <strong>of</strong> therapy. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional matters such<br />

as record keeping, code <strong>of</strong> ethics etc (e.g., mental health act,<br />

child protection act) should also be included.<br />

Clinical Skills and Knowledge<br />

Courses must include<br />

- Congenital and acquired disability – its aetiology, diagnosis and<br />

implications for<br />
