5.4 The Contractor shall provide safe pedestrian access in all directions across the worksite in such a<br />
manner as to accommodate wheelchairs, pushcarts, prams and shopping trolleys.<br />
5.5 The Contractor shall be responsible for the safety <strong>of</strong> the public and liable for any accident or injury to<br />
any member <strong>of</strong> the public as a direct result <strong>of</strong> ongoing contract work.<br />
5.6 The Contractor shall provide and appropriately position (in accordance with the requirements <strong>of</strong> the<br />
local Traffic Department) for the duration <strong>of</strong> the work on site, an adequate supply <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />
� “Men Working” road signs<br />
� Traffic redirection road signs<br />
� Orange traffic cones<br />
� Flashing yellow lights<br />
� White drums with reflective stickers<br />
� Vertical chevron plates supported by sandbags<br />
� Orange meshed barrier screen<br />
� Any additional protective equipment required due to particular site<br />
circumstances or as instructed by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services.<br />
5.7 All the above mentioned equipment shall be made available for inspection by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong><br />
Electricity Services prior to commencement <strong>of</strong> work.<br />
6. ALLOCATION OF WORK<br />
6.1 Repeated non-performance by a Contractor will result in the suspension or termination <strong>of</strong> the Contract.<br />
6.2 <strong>No</strong> work shall be undertaken without prior approval from the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services.<br />
6.3 Points for price and preference points shall be awarded to each tender. The total adjudication points will<br />
be calculated and ranked.<br />
6.4 There will be no guarantee <strong>of</strong> work from the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services. An <strong>of</strong>ficial purchase<br />
order will be generated for each service as and when required.<br />
6.5 In the case where the Contractor appoints a Sub-contractor, the responsibility will remain with the Main<br />
Contractor.<br />
7. SECURITY OF MATERIALS<br />
7.1 The Contractor will be responsible for the security <strong>of</strong> all uninstalled material and any equipment being<br />
used by him on site and will be liable for any loss or damage.<br />
7.2 The Contractor will be responsible for the safety and security <strong>of</strong> his personnel that must go into areas to<br />
perform their duties.<br />
8. INSPECTION AND TESTING OF WORK<br />
8.1 For each section <strong>of</strong> the work, the Contractor shall notify a <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Representative<br />
when his work is ready for inspection and testing.<br />
8.2 The motifs, set pieces and Christmas trees must be tested and approved prior to installation. A relevant<br />
<strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Representative must be present.<br />
8.3 The motifs, set pieces and Christmas trees will again be tested after installation. A relevant <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services Representative will be present.<br />
