eventsBhoomi Pujan of the Campus Ladies HostelThe Bhoomi Pujan of the Campus Ladies Hostel was arranged at the proposed site, i.e., near theGalleria on 1 st October 2007. Dr. Ajit Kumar Panda, Dean, washonored to be the Chief Guest at the Bhoomi Pujan Ceremony. Mr. &Mrs. S. N. Mudali, Chairman, S.M.Charitable & Educational Trust,Prof. Sangram Mudali, Director, Mrs. Geetika Mudali, PlacementDirector, Mr. Ajay Khuntia, Site Officer, along with other facultymembers and staff were present in the pujan. The construction workof the 1,32,000 sq.ft., six storeyed, 450 seated proposed ladies hostelhas started in full swing.The Sankalp that was…The Annual Technical Symposium of I.S.T.E Student’s Chapter – Sankalp held at N.I.S.T from12 th to 14 th October 2007, attracted students from far and near. Powered by a punch line-‘Empower Synergy’ which perhaps, bestillustrated its resolve to attain quality and tap theintellectual technical acumen, it had more than 550students participating from across the country. Ourhonourable Director Prof. Sangram Mudali set the toneof the event in his opening speech. Mr. R.N Rout,Delivery Manager, L&T Emsys and Mr.Ashok Suyal, HRManager, FISERV Technologies, were the other delegatesrepresenting the industry on this occasion. The formationof the ‘Human-Chain’ highlighted the sky-high moraleof the students. The prelims of all major attractions like C-Online, Robotics, Quiz, Online gamingetc. on the 1 st day saw widespread participations. Web- Designing, VLSI Design using Tanner Toolsand P-Spice, Energy Conservation Models, Hardware Models etc. were some other special events onoffer. Mr. and Ms. Sankalp, Chalk n’ Cheese, Just a Minute, Mobile Video Clips were some eventsdesigned to cater to the fun quotients of the participants.The 2 nd day saw most of the finals of the various eventstaking place. The workshops were held by Mr. Suyal andMs. Soumica Mehrotra of FISERV.NRC (NIST Robotics Club) organizedROBOSTORMZ’07 during SANKALP’07. The themethis time was ARMAGEDDON-The Ultimate Battle. Theevent constituted of both the manual and automatic games.About 77 teams from various engineering colleges all overIndia participated in both the games. This eventROBOSTORMZ is unique of its kind in this region of the country. Our honorable Director, Prof.Sangram Mudali & Mr.R.N.Rout inaugurated the event. The companies like The Vertex Robotics,National Institute of Science & Technology, Berhampur, 761008 5 of 18
OTPL, Secure Meters, ISDAC, Proloific Systems, Gala Electronics, ROBOKITS etc., sponsored theevent this time.The NIST Musical Society (NMS) performed their indigenous musical composition and enchantedthe evening with their mellifluous voice, scintillating beats, and touchy lyrics, all well synchronized.The DJ nite was the star attraction in the evening. Everyone including the faculties danced to thetunes of DJ NYK and DJ Mark. The final day saw the participation of intellectuals like, Dr. SunderN. Mohanty, M.K.C.G Medical College & Hospital, Berhampur; Mr. Sangram K. Panda, Tehsildar,Berhampur; Dr. C.R. Mishra, Research and Development Head, Nalco, Angul; Mr. Nitai Gaur Dhal,Director, Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar; Dr. S. P. Das, Professor, XIMB, Bhubaneswar;Ms. Deepa Gambhir, Principal, DAV, Berhampur, Mr. Rao Ladi, Mindtree Technologies, and Mr.Ajay Bhanja, Vice-President, ETA, in the panel discussion on the topic ‘India in the year 2020’.The prizes for the various events were given by Mr. Surjya Mohanty, Center Head, BhubaneswarDC, Wipro Technologies. The major sponsors were ARIFIN, ETA, INTERFACE, IMS etc. A total ofRs 1, 20,000/- was given in the form of prizes. The Champion’s Trophy for overall performance inthe events was awarded to Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar.The three day fest witnessed intense technical duels and fun amongst students.
