AssemblyRequired Equipment and AccessoriesTransmitterAA battery (4)Motor battery (2) (charged)Hook and loop tape3. Install the four AA batteries in thebattery holder. Match the polarity of thebatteries to the molded markings in thebattery holder.1. Locate the pieces for the boat stand. The longer side pieces will key to theshorter end pieces. Use a small amount ofMedium CA to glue the pieces together.4. Slide the battery cover back on thebottom of the transmitter.Note: Steps 2 through 4 relate only tothe RTR version of the Mystic. Pleaserefer to the instructions provided withyour particular radio system if assemblingthe PNP version of this model.2. Slide the cover from the bottom of thetransmitter to access the battery holder.4

Receiver and Speed Control InstallationRequired Equipment and AccessoriesHull assembly ReceiverSpeed control Antenna tubeHook and loop tapeNote: Steps 4 through 5 relate only tothe RTR version of the Mystic. Pleaserefer to the instructions provided withyour particular radio system if assemblingthe PNP version of this model.3. Use hook and loop tape to secure thereceiver in the hull. The lead from thesteering servo plugs into the STR port, andthe speed control plugs into the THR port.1. Lift the hatch cover from the hull atthe rear and slide it back to remove. The cover is held at the rear using twomagnets, and at the front with a small pin.4. Pass the longer antenna wire throughthe fitting on the top of the hull. Theantenna wire is then inserted into theantenna tube. Place the antenna tube inthe fitting to complete the main antennainstallation.2. Remove the radio box cover from thehull by lifting it up using the tab at therear of the cover.5. Use clear tape to secure the shorterfeed antenna under the lip of the hull.Make sure the tape will not interfere withthe installation of the radio box cover.5

Battery InstallationRequired Equipment and AccessoriesTransmitterAA battery (4)Motor battery (2) (charged)Hook and loop tape1. Apply the hook and loop tape to thebottom of both batteries. Also apply themating piece of tape in the hull where thebatteries will be located.Note: Center the trims for both thesteering and throttle on your transmitterbefore turning the transmitter on.3. Move the switch on the transmitter tothe ON position and confirm that the redand green LED illuminate. Turn off thetransmitter.About your Speed ControllerBe sure to use a Programming Module(PRB3311) to adjust the cutoff voltage whenusing Ni-MH batteries to protect against overdischargingthe batteries.Note: The ESC is factory-set for use withLi-Po batteries. The programming module offers otherbeneficial adjustments like exponentialthrottle curves and timing adjustments. VisitProBoatModels.com and search "ProgrammingModule" for further details.2. Place the motor batteries in the hull. There will be one battery on the left of thehull, and one on the right side of the hull.4. Confirm that the ESC on/off switchis in the "OFF" position and connect thebatteries to the battery plugs from thespeed control.6

Binding Procedure - PNP Version Only(Applicable to all Spektrum DSM 2.4GHz marine compatible transmitters)Required PartsFuselage assemblyTransmitterBind plugBinding is connecting a transmitter to areceiver so the receiver recognizes thetransmitter GUID (Globally Unique Identifier)code. Binding is necessary for properoperation.Your model is compatible to a Spektrum or JR ® DSM2 /DSMX -equipped full rangetransmitter. Spektrum radios with marinetechnology use the following boat icon toindicate marine use compatibility:1. Locate the BIND plug. The BIND plugwill fit in the BIND port of the receiver asshown. 3. Remember to remove the BIND plugfrom the receiver BEFORE turning off theradio system. Once you have completedbinding the transmitter and receiver, unplug the motor batteries and removethem from the boat.Once you have finished programming yourradio, you should re-bind the radio to ensurethe fail-safe positions for the servos arecorrect.Additional Information Regarding YourRadio SystemBefore each run, power on the transmitterand wait about five (5) seconds before movingthe receiver switch to the ON position. Whenthe receiver is switched on too quickly for thetransmitter to make frequency selection, thetransmitter and receiver may not connect. When there is no connection, leave thetransmitter powered on, turn off the receiverswitch then turn it back on to power up thereceiver and connect the receiver to thetransmitter.Activating the ESCTurn on the transmitter then turn on the ESC.The radio system is now searching for thereceiver it is bound to. Once located, the LEDon the receiver will illuminate and allow rudderoperation.Engaging the MotorTurn the ESC off then on again. The ESC willbeep until you pull the throttle trigger to fullthrottle and return it to the neutral position.2. Follow the procedure as described inyour radio manual for binding the receiverand transmitter. Check the operation ofthe rudder and speed control using theradio system.7

4. Turn on the transmitter, then the ESCon/off switch. The ESC will beep until youpull the throttle trigger to full throttle andreturn it to the neutral position. Check theoperation of the propeller in relationshipto the throttle trigger. When the triggeris pulled in, the propeller must rotatecounterclockwise as shown. If the motorturns in the wrong direction, switch any 2motor wires.5. Check the operation of the steering inrelationship to the steering wheel. Whenthe wheel is rotated clockwise, the ruddermust move right as shown. If not, followthe instructions from the radio to set theservo reversing for the steering.6. Place the clear battery cover back intoposition. We suggest using clear tape(PRB0102) around the edge of the mainhatch to keep it in place in the event of aroll over.8

Handling AdjustmentsRequired Equipment and AccessoriesHex wrench: 3mmOpen-end wrench: 7mmChanging the Center of GravityMoving the batteries to the front or back cansignificantly affect the boat's performance. Asa starting point, the center of gravity of theboat should be 30% (9-inches or 228mm)from the rear of the boat.Raising the drive helps eliminate oscillation orbouncing and assist with top end stability butexcessively raising the drive can reduce topspeeds and cause cavitation.A: Move the batteries toward the rear of theboat to raise the front of the hull out of thewater for increased speed.B: Move the batteries toward the front ofthe boat for faster initial acceleration,to eliminate oscillation or bouncing andincrease stability.Use a 3mm hex wrench and 7mm open-endwrench to loosen the bolt that attaches theoutput to the bracket to adjust the height.ABDrive HeightThe center of the propeller shaft should be justabout to the bottom of the sponsons. Loweringthe drive will increase the propeller's abilityto bite at take off but excessive lowering cancause the back of the boat to feel loose anddecrease top end stability.9

MaintenanceRequired Tools and LubricantsMarine greasePaper towelRubbing alcoholOpen-end wrench: 10mm (2)Hex wrench: 2.5mmNut driver: 4mmLubricating the Flex ShaftLubricating the drive system is vital to the lifeof the drivetrain. The lubricant also acts as awater seal, keeping water from entering thehull through the stuffing box.Lubricate the drive shaft, propeller shaftand all moving parts after every 2–3 hoursof operation.1. Use two 10mm open-end wrenches toloosen the ferrule that secures the flexshaft to the motor.3. Use a paper towel and rubbing alcoholto clean the flex shaft.4. Apply a waterproof marine grease tothe flex shaft. We recommend the ProBoat marine grease available at your localhobby dealer.2. Remove the flex shaft by pulling it outof the stuffing box by the propeller.5. Reverse the previous steps to reinstallthe flex drive. Check that there is aslight gap of 1/32-inch (1mm) betweenthe stuffing box and propeller mount asshown.10
