Filter Elements forCleaning Appliances and Power ToolsFilter elements forcleaning appliances• Vacuum sweepers• Wet/dry vacuum cleaners• Domestic vacuum cleanersVacuum sweepersOur cellulose and polyester filters with round and flatconstruction have ideal cleaning properties due to thewidely spaced pleats (System ProClean).Wet/dry vacuum cleanersFrom Hengst you can obtain flat pleat filters and filtercartridges in various filter classes (e.g. BGIA: L, M, H),with media made of natural and synthetic fibers. These filter media can be further optimized dependingupon the type of application (e.g. oleophobic, hydrophobic, nanofiber, meltblown or PTFE membrane media).Domestic vacuum cleanersWe supply high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtersand high-performance ultra-low penetration air (ULPA)filters in accordance with EN 1822, made with glass fibermedia and washable media with a PTFE membrane. To meet customer requirements, the materials used providecontinuous heat resistance for temperatures up to 100 °C.Filter elements forpower tools• Grinding machines• Rotary hammers• Wall chasersWe supply filter elements as well as complete filter modules. The wide spacing between the pleats (System ProClean)ensures a high dust-holding capacity and optimal cleaningcharacteristics.HENGST guarantees intensive support during the entire power tool development phase, and also designs testing equipment in accordance with customer specifications.06

System ProClean Flat Pleat FiltersProClean –the system with flexible pleatsConventionally designed flat pleat filters have closelyspaced pleats, which are often rigidly held in a stabilizingframe or cast component. The resulting small spacesbetween the pleats rapidly fill with dust, which at bestcan be only partially removed due to the rigid, closelyspaced arrangement of the pleats. In order to solve this problem, we have developedproduction processes that permit the manufacture offlat pleat filter systems with freely movable pleatsspaced more than 5 mm apart.Due to its outstanding cleaning properties, compact mounting dimensions and ease of assembly, our System ProCleanis used by many well-known manufacturers of original equipment such as vacuum cleaners, pneumatic conveyor systems, drilling and grinding machines, shoe repair machines, wet/dry vacuum cleaners and wall sander.System ProClean flat pleat filterwith trapped dust, before cleaning.Outstanding cleaning properties dueto movable, widely spaced pleats.System ProClean flat pleatfilter after cleaning.07

Erosion FiltersFilter elements for wire, sinkand starting hole erosion unitsChoose from our comprehensive program• Lamellar and cartridge filters• Galvanized and varnished versions• With or without couplingHENGST erosion filters protect the dielectric frommaterial removed from the working part or electrode, preventing contamination which could lead tomalfunctions in the erosion process or even shortcircuits between the working part and the electrode. The long service life and improved resistance to collapseare due to pleats with patented HENGST paper embossing.Erosion filter elements are available with filter ratingsof 2 to 30 micrometers.AEGZIMMER & KREIMBROTHERAGIEJAPAXMITSUBISHIHITACHIEXERONCHARMILLESSODICKFANUCDECKELSEIBU/WALTEROPS INGERSOLLMAKINO08

Filter Elements for Special ApplicationsFast, flexible solutions –even for new applicationsExamples of solutions already successfully implemented for special applications:Filter elements for radiant heaters for livestockThese filters provide intake air filtration for gas heaters. The filter elements are washable due to the use of polyester media.Maximum safety is guaranteed by the use of materials resistantto high temperatures.Filter elements for rainwater filtrationCyclone filters with patented support ribs ensure an efficiency ofmore than 95 %. Adhesion forces draw the fluid through the filterfabric to the clean water side.Filter elements for switch cabinet air conditioningInnovative, patented pleat filters permit a significant increasein air filtration performance, while complying with protectionclass IP55. The pleating also increases the service life, thuslengthening service intervals. We will be glad to finda solution for yourapplication that meetsyour requirements.09

Quality is Evident in the DetailsFilter materials and processingat the highest levelReliable filtration with a high separation rate and longfilter service life is provided by a large selection of BGIAapprovedfilter media, such as cellulose, synthetic fibermaterials and glass fiber media.Additional options are also available to meet yourrequirements, including hydrophobic, oleophobic,flame-retardant, conductive, antistatic and nanofibrematerials, as well as PTFE membranes. To complete the quality program, optimal pleatgeometry is ensured by embossed distance holdersor adhesive beads applied online, in addition topolyester band, expanded metal, perforated plateor net stabilization. All products are thoroughly testedat HENGST via extensive measurementand testing facilities.Embossed distance holdersAdhesive beadsStabilizer bands Expanded metal stabilizer Perforated plate stabilizer Net stabilizer10

Impressive QualityA good foundationIn addition to years of experience, state-of-the-arttechnology is also essential in order to achieve anoptimal selection of filter media. For example, media characteristics in accordance withVDI 3926 are determined via long-term dust testing. An investigation under realistic conditions is carriedout in four phases.Differential pressure and residual dust content valuesare recorded during the entire test. The test parameterscan be adapted to the design and operating parametersof the filter system.Based on the test characteristics, the followingvalues are determined:• Cleaning intensity• Dust cake formation• Average residual dust content• Degree of cleaning• Total test duration (characterizing the service life)By means of individual testing, the optimal filter mediumfor a particular application can be selected. The foundationis provided by cellulose, synthetic and glass fibers, whichare combined and processed as required for the application.Service life is decisively improved by nanofiber technologyNanofibers combine exceptionally good cleanability with high air permeability. When they are used in conjunction withpneumatic cleaning systems, previously unattainable service lifetimes can be achieved.Differential pressure after cleaning72 mbar70 mbar68 mbar66 mbar64 mbar62 mbar60 mbarNew condition 1 2 3Dust cyclewith nanofibersComparative measurementsFilter media with and without nanofiberswithout nanofibers4 5Filter mediumwithout nanofibersFilter mediumwith nanofibers11
