Baillie, CAExecutive ChairmanNewport Capital PartnersJudges PanelMr. Baillie is one of the founders of Newport Partners, with over 35 years experience <strong>in</strong> the <strong>in</strong>vestment <strong>in</strong>dustry.He retired <strong>in</strong> 1999 as Deputy Chairman and Chief Operat<strong>in</strong>g Officer of Nesbitt Burns Inc., hav<strong>in</strong>g jo<strong>in</strong>ed apredecessor firm <strong>in</strong> 1977.Mr. Baillie is a member of the board of directors of each of Ausnoram Hold<strong>in</strong>gs Ltd., Welton Energy Corporation,and Blueback Ltd. He is a past Chair of the Board of Trustees of United Way of Greater Toronto, Chair of theBoard of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Canada, Appleby College Foundation and a member of theWellspr<strong>in</strong>g board of directors.Mr. Baillie holds a degree <strong>in</strong> Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Adm<strong>in</strong>istration from the University of Western Ontario, and is a charteredaccountant.Paul DeMelo, CAHead, Corporate Bank<strong>in</strong>gNational Bank F<strong>in</strong>ancialMr. DeMelo jo<strong>in</strong>ed National Bank F<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>in</strong> October, 2007, and is responsible for Canadian Corporate Bank<strong>in</strong>g,Portfolio Management, and chairs the Commitments Committee for National Bank F<strong>in</strong>ancial.Prior to jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g National Bank F<strong>in</strong>ancial, Mr. DeMelo’s leadership career <strong>in</strong>cluded, Head Corporate Bank<strong>in</strong>g, Bankof America Securities Canada; Head, Corporate and Commercial Bank, JP Morgan Canada; COO JPMorganCanada and, Chairman, President & CEO, Bank One Canada.Mr. DeMelo has been an active executive member of a number of Advisory Boards and Senior Committees,<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g with the Canadian Bankers Association, Greater Toronto United Way, Toronto F<strong>in</strong>ancial ServicesAlliance and the American Chamber of Commerce <strong>in</strong> Canada. Mr. DeMelo is a certified children’s soccer coachand has coached children’s baseball and hockey.Born <strong>in</strong> the Azores, Mr. DeMelo is a dual citizen of Portugal and of Canada, with Permanent Resident status <strong>in</strong>the United States. He is married and has three children. Mr. DeMelo is a University of Toronto Alumni.

She has over 23 years of private equity, <strong>in</strong>vestment bank<strong>in</strong>gand operational experience.Previously, she was President of TD Capital and Vice Chair of TD Securities. At TD Capital, she was actively<strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>vest<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> small to mid-market companies and ultimately <strong>in</strong> lead<strong>in</strong>g and build<strong>in</strong>g the organization tomanage over $2.5 billion of committed capital across five different private equity and mezzan<strong>in</strong>e funds. She alsohas 6 years of operational f<strong>in</strong>ance and risk management roles <strong>in</strong> companies located <strong>in</strong> the USA and Canada.In 1999, she was recognized as one of Canada's "Top 40 Under 40" award w<strong>in</strong>ners and <strong>in</strong> 2003 as one of the Top50 Most Influential Women <strong>in</strong> Canada by the F<strong>in</strong>ancial Post. Ms. Townsend received her M.B.A. from theUniversity of Toronto and her B.Sc (f<strong>in</strong>ance) magna cum laude from Boston College. She also graduated from theRotman/Institute of Corporate Directors Corporate Governance College.
