BACKGROUNDManagement development programmeOnOperations Management Techniquesin Health Care(20 th – 22 nd February 2015)Operations Management is the design, operation, and improvement of the processes andsystems that create and deliver the organization’s products and services. Operationsmanagement methods called for eliminating the old rule-of-thumb, individual way of performingwork and, through study and optimization of the work, replacing the varied methods with the one“best” way of performing the work to improve productivity and efficiency. Manufacturingorganizations have successfully employed the programs, techniques, and tools of operationsimprovement for many years. Recently, leading healthcare organizations have begun to employthe same tools. It is in this backdrop this programme is designed to train the healthcaremanagers in understanding and using operations management tools & techniques for improvingthe healthcare efficiency and productivity.OBJECTIVEThe overall objective of the programme is to train the healthcare managers in using modernoperations management techniques in efficient and effective management of healthcareservices.COURSE CONTENTSThe programme will cover the following Operation Management (OM) techniques in healthcaremanagement: Introduction to Modern Operations Management tools and techniques in healthcare. Heathcare Project Management through PERT/CPM techniques. Forecasting techniques and approaches in health care operations. Resource allocation through Linear Programming (LP) methodology, Applications of LPin optimal assingments and transportation/distribution problems. Quality Management tools & techniques in healthcare, Control Charts, 7 QC tools inhealthcare. Queuing & Capacity planning in healthcare services.The programme will train the participants in using Software for Decision Sciences andMicrosoft Excel using cases and exercises in above mentioned OM techniques andapplications.WHO SHOULD ATTENDThe programme is designed for healthcare/hopital managers, medical superintendents, medicaldirectors, nursing directors, doctors, healthcare consultants, supply chain managers, distributionand logistics managers with substantial managerial responsibilities, interests, and motivation tolearn and improve healthcare services.


TRAINING METHODSThe programme will use a mix of lectures to introduce the lead concept and encourage activeinteraction by the participants through discussions, exercises and case studies. Hands onpractical training of Operations Management Software will be imparted to the participants.COURSE COORDINATOR & FACULTYDr. Susmit Jain, Asstt. Podar Institute of Management, University ofRajasthan, Jaipur, M.B.A. (Hons.) (Operations Mgmt.), from Malaviya National Institute ofTechnology (MNIT), Jaipur, and B.E (Hons.) from Government Engineering College, Kota. Hehas been topper in MBA, and topper in B.E. He has around fifteen years of teaching/researchexperience in Operations Management.Faculty will also comprise of other professors/experts from IIHMR.DURATION AND VENUEThe programme is of 3-day duration.
