He suggests that a trulytangible interface relies heavily on being embodied and metaphorical. From TUIs to tangible interactionSuch views on tangible interfaces do not fit entirely with this study’s focuson physical interaction driven by SR-RFID. At the current stage ofinvestigating this emerging domain, abstract interaction opportunities holdmore interest than metaphors for user interfaces. As a result, in this study Imove toward the umbrella term tangible interaction that deals with systemsrelying on embodied interaction, tangible manipulation, physicalrepresentation of data and embeddedness in real space (Hornecker & Buur,2006).Figure 2.10 shows an example of a system that uses tangible interaction, designed by the author in collaboration with ABB Corporate ResearchCenter. The system allowed the programming of paint robot trajectories byusing a spatially tracked tangible interface combined with an augmentedreality visualisation (Pettersen, Pretlove, Skourup, Engedal & Løkstad,2003).Figure 2.10.
