PRESS RELEASE 15 MARCH 2012SWISS YOUTH HOSTELS ASSOCIATION TO OPEN A RESTAURANT IN INTERLAKENOn 5 May, the Swiss Youth Hostels Association (SchweizerJugendherbergen) will be opening a restaurant at its newyouth hostel in Interlaken, a stone’s throw from the BahnhofOst. Called ‘3a’, the new venture marks the launch of arestaurant-bar-lounge concept which, if it proves a success,will also be offered at other selected destinations. The ‘3a’concept follows the principles of the Swiss Youth HostelsAssociation: convenience, fair prices, sustainability andinternational flair. The range of dishes includes internationalclassics that are prepared in woks right in front of guests asthey relax in their seats.The ‘3a - restaurant bar lounge’ will offer youth hostel guests andthe general public a special selection of culinary delights sevendays a week, from 7 a.m. to midnight. It is a welcome addition tothe existing selection of restaurants and eateries in Interlaken.Range of dishes prepared to guests’ tastes as they watchMeals are prepared at wok stations in an open kitchen as guestslook on. The range includes international classics such as Thaigreen chicken curry, mince with pappardelle and sweet and sourapple slices, and Penne Arrabiata. Guests can add their own extrarequests, and have meals prepared to their personal tastes. Eachmain course comes with a fresh seasonal salad starter, with pricesfrom 14 francs. The full menu consists of three courses and costs17.50 francs. This includes a salad and a main course, and fordessert, guests can choose from a selection of ice creams fromthe restaurant’s own gelateria. Dishes such as beef teriyaki andseasonal vegetables, made with exquisite fresh ingredients, are onoffer for less than 30 francs. Lavishly designed and constructedIn addition to the open kitchen concept, ‘3a’ Interlaken will takeguests’ breath away with its lavish design and layout. A wood,concrete and steel construction is complemented by natural hues,creating an atmosphere of conviviality and warmth. With bar andlounge areas, the restaurant provides seating for 120, and atlunchtimes and in the evenings it offers around 15 main dishes, alongwith menus that change every day. For those who fancy a snack, lightbites and gelati are on offer until midnight. Guests can helpthemselves free of charge to water from the drinking fountain. Insummer, the restaurant extends out onto a covered terrace. In thelounge, you can relax around the open fire, play billiards, or takeadvantage of the free wifi to check your email.If the concept is a success, ‘3a’ will be popping up in otherlocations as wellWith ‘3a’, the Swiss Youth Hostels Association is launching a newrestaurant concept and a new brand.
