April 12, 2015Second Sunday of EasterFr. Woody McCallister andDeacon Tim Shamrellwelcome you!360-695-1366 www.ollparish.orgVancouver, WashingtonDivine MercySt. Faustina Kowalska was a young Polish nun, and a mysticwho saw visions of Jesus. Faustina felt that Jesus wanted herto help others understand and embrace the great and tendermercy of God. In 2000, Pope John Paul II officially designatedthe second Sunday of Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday, andallowed Catholics to promote St. Faustina’s interpretation ofdevotion to the divine mercy of Christ. The Divine Mercy is one way to understand the infinite loveGod has for all people. I know it can be hard sometimes to reallybelieve God forgives us, even if we hear a priest say so inConfession. How can Jesus forgive me, if I have such a hardtime forgiving myself? But we can take comfort in the fact thatGod has already forgiven us; Christ offers us new life throughhis sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection! All we need todo is ask for and trust in God’s loving forgiveness. These are the first two themes of DivineMercy Sunday: turning back toward our loving God and trusting in Christ’s mercy. The third theme is to show mercy for others. When we pray the Our Father, we say, “Forgiveus our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” How do we show mercy toothers? Do we forgive people when they ask us to, or maybe even if they don’t? This Easterseason, take a moment to consider how we can share the loving mercy of God.Happy Easter, and Divine Mercy Sunday!Katelyn SteinkePastoral Assistant for Faith FormationApr 15Women’s Fellowship9:30am Pastoral Ctr6:45pm ParishLoungeApr 16Mom’s Group7:00pmPastoral CenterApr 19Lector TrainingNoonChurchApr 21Garden Meeting7:00pmParish LoungeMay 1510th AnnualGolf Tournamentat Lewis RiverGolf Course
