Ron Whitehurst, 280th CBCS. “We backfill forthe 1st SOCS and 919th CS, so this will make it betterfor the guys on the frontline if we’re all on thesame page.”Besides ensuring interoperability among AirForce components, the exercise also provided fieldtraining to make sure Airmen stay proficient intheir skills.“This is the first time for a lot of these Airmen toget training outside of the classroom,” Master Sgt.Delores Klausitis, 919th CS said. “We may haveto augment one of these other units one day, so ifwe can learn the way they do business it will onlymake us better.”While there are no plans, as of yet, to conductanother exercise of this scope, some think opportunitieslike this will be more frequent in the future.“There aren’t plans yet to conduct anotherexercise, but I stress yet,” said 2nd Lt. ThomasRaia, AFSOC. “I’m certain that as soon as the successesof this exercise get a chance to rise up to thecommand’s level, initiatives will start to plan foranother.”The exercise provided AFSOC communicationsAirmen with skills they can use at their work centersand in a deployed environment.“One of the things I’ve learned is that whenparticipating in an exercise like this, everyone hasto pull their weight or the entire mission will fail,”Lieutenant Raia said. “The phrase ‘that’s not myjob’ is not one you’re likely to hear out there withthese folks.”An Airman checks wiring on a computer duringOperation Combined Eagle held March 8 on DukeField.
