Be sure power is OFF beforeproceeding with installation.Remove the canopy. If uncertainhow to remove it, reference the fan’sowner’s manual. With wiring exposed,it may be helpful to note existing wireconnections or take a digital photo forreference. Remove the wire connectorsthat were connecting the wires fromthe outlet box to the fan, leaving thegrounding wires connected.CanopyReceiverOR OR ORChoose the hanging system that most closely resembles the one used by your fan and install the receiver and wire as directed.Note: Some fans may have considerable excess lead wire. For easier canopy installation, cut the excess wire, leaving a minimum of 8” remaining. Re-strip the fan lead wires 1/2”. Place remaining excesswire into the ceiling electrical box. Connect the black wire from the receiver (marked“fan out”) to the black wire from the fan. Connect the blue wire from the receiver (marked ”light out”) to theblue wire (or possibly black with white stripe) from the fan.Note: The red wire from the receiver has a pre-installed wire terminator. It is for fans with an optional up light;otherwise it will not be used. Maximum 120 watts.If you’re uncertain about wire colors or connections, please contact a qualified electrician.Turn the splices upward and push them carefully back through the hanger bracketinto the outlet box. Spread the wires apart, with the grounded wires on one side ofthe outlet box and the ungrounded wires on the other side of the outlet box.M6009-01 • 06/26/12 • © Casablanca Fan CompanyCONNECT WIRES FROM RECEIVER TO WIRES FROM OUTLET BOX - Using an orange wire connector connectthe black wire (ungrounded) from the ceiling to the black wire from the receiver (marked “live in”). Connectthe white wire (grounded) from the ceiling to the white wire from the receiver (marked “neutral in”).AFTER ALL WIRES ARE CONNECTED and secured with wire connectors, re-install the canopy.To avoid possible electrical shock, before installing or servicing your fan, disconnect thepower by turning off the circuit breakers to the outlet box and associated wall switchlocation. If you cannot lock the circuit breakers in the off position, securely fasten aprominent warning device, such as a tag, to the service panel.

Replace with aCR2032 battery when necessary. Thebattery should be installed with thepositive (+) side up.Note: The remote must be pairedbefore the fan will operate.Within 3 minutes of restoring powerto the fan, press both the power buttonand the 4 button for at least 3 seconds.The fan will turn at the lowest speedsignifying that the remote pairingprocess is complete. If using thetransmitter with multiple fans, repeatthis process for each fan.The power button found on the rightside of the transmitter turns the fan off.The LED light will illuminate when abutton is pushed, letting you know thatthe signal has been sent to the fan.Buttons one (1) through (4) turn on thefan and control the speed.• (1) Extra Low• (2) Low• (3) Medium• (4) HighThe up arrow and down arrow buttonscontrol the lights on the fan. Quicklypress the up or down arrow to turn thelights off and on. Hold the up or downarrow to raise and dim the light level.Your Universal Remote comes with awall plate that has two (2) posts onwhich to mount your transmitter whennot in use.Safe-ExitTroubleshootingThe Safe-Exit Program givesyou about thirty seconds oflight when you turn the lightsoff to exit the room before thelights go out. To use Safe-Exit:• Press the fan power buttonoff for at least three seconds toinitiate the Safe-Exit Mode.• The lights will flash for visualconfirmation.• The lights will stay on 50%brightness for 20 seconds andthen begin to dim. After a totalof 30 seconds, the lights will becompletely off.Note: For CFL lighting, the lightswill stay on 100% brightnessfor 30 seconds. After a total of30 seconds, the lights will becompletely off.Fan will not start• Make sure the power is on at thecircuit breaker and the wall switch.• Make sure the battery is working.• Make sure that the transmitterand receiver are paired.• Check wire connections inside ofthe canopy.Remote control of fan is erratic• Make sure batteries are installedcorrectly.• Install a fresh battery.Transmitter only works whenheld at close range• Change battery.Lights do not dim• Make sure that you do not havea CFL bulb installed. The controlhas a feature that automaticallydetects CFL bulbs and turns offdimming if a CFL bulb is installed.ONE YEAR WARRANTYThis product is warranted to the original purchaser by Casablanca FanCompany against defects in material and workmanship for one (1) yearfrom date of purchase.
