2. Press and HOLD the F key until theradio beeps (about 2 seconds). Ifthere is no frequency programmedinto that channel, -OFF- will bedisplayed3. Press the key to activate thechannel. A frequency of 403.00 MHzwill be displayed (the bottom of theuseable frequency band). Now pressthe or keys to select the desiredfrequency in 25 or 12.5 kHz steps toa maximum frequency of 520 MHz.4. To change the frequency faster, brieflypress the CALL key. Now press theor key to step through thefrequencies in 1 MHz steps. Brieflypress the CALL key again to returnto 25 or 12.5 kHz steps.5. When the desired frequency isdisplayed, press and HOLD the F keyuntil the radio beeps. The frequencyis now stored under the selectedchannel number.TIP: The radio is able to receive signals onthe displayed frequency the instant you selectit. This feature allows you to manually tunethrough the frequencies looking for signals oractive channels in your area.Once you have programmed the requiredchannels, switch the radio OFF to exit theprogramming mode.Now when you switch the radio on, youwill be able to select the usual 80 CBchannels plus the additional channelsyou have programmed.NOTE: There is no provision to transmit onthe Receive-Only channels. If the PTT switch ispressed on a Receive-Only channel, the radiowill emit a low beep.EDITING YOUR PROGRAMMEDRECEIVE CHANNELSThe Receive-Only channels you haveprogrammed can be edited at anytime. You do not need to re-enter theprogramming mode.To edit a Receive-Only channel:1. Select the required channel.2. Press and hold the F key for about 2seconds until it beeps. The frequencystored in that channel will be displayed.3. Press the or key to select anew frequency.4. To store the new frequency, press andhold the F key until the radio beeps.Disabling a Receive-Only channelIf you no longer wish to display aReceive-Only channel, you can switchit off so the channel number no longerappears when selecting channels.1. Select the receive-only channel thatyou wish to disable.2. Press and hold the F key for about2 seconds until the radio beeps. Thefrequency stored in that channel willbe displayed.3. Briefly press the CALL key to selectthe MHz frequency stepping mode.This will allow faster frequencychanging.4. Press and HOLD the key to stepdown through the frequencies until-OFF- is displayed.5. Press and hold the F key to store thenew setting.Scanning on Receive-Only channelsThe additional receive channels can beprogrammed into your scan groups in thesame way as your normal CB channels.Simply select the required receive-onlychannel, select the required scan group(Open or Group Scan), then press andhold the SCAN key until the radio beeps.‘M’ will be displayed on that channel toindicate that it is in the scan memory.For more details, see the section on‘Scanning’ in this manual.Receiving selcalls onyour Receive-Only channelsIf your TX6200 receives its Selcallcode on a Receive-Only channel, it willrespond in the usual way, except that itcannot automatically transmit two quickPAGE 28 I N S T R U C T I O N M A N UA L TX6200

For more details, seethe section on ’Selcall’ in this manual.CTCSSCTCSS can be enabled on the Receive-Only channels.MAINTAINING YOUR BATTERY PACKFor information on removing, fitting andrecharging the battery pack, refer to‘GETTING STARTED’ on page 5 ofthis manual.Your TX6200 is supplied with a 7.2 Volt1200 mAh Ni-MH (Nickel Metal Hydride)rechargeable battery pack.When the battery pack is new, it must befully charged before being used for thefirst time.If left unused, your TX6200’s batterypack will discharge itself within a fewmonths. If you have not used yourTX6200 for some time, you will need torecharge the battery pack before use.The battery pack is a sealed unit. Thereare no user serviceable parts inside.LOW BATTERY INDICATORSWhen the battery voltage drops toaround 6 Volts, your TX6200 will give6 quick beeps, BATT will flash on thedisplay and the Tx/Busy LED will flash‘Orange’ to indicate that the batteryneeds to be charged. You shouldrecharge the battery pack as soonas possible.If you have been transmitting using theHigh Power setting, you can extend thelife by switching to Low transmit power.BATTERY CHARGINGIt is recommended that you charge yourTX6200’s battery using the BCT001trickle charger supplied. The BCT001 canrecharge your battery pack in around8-10 hours, less if there is still somecharge remaining. The charger will thencontinue to trickle charge the battery,however, for maximum long term batterylife it is recommended you disconnectthe charger when charging is complete.USE ONLY GME APPROVED BATTERY PACKSAND CHARGERS. USE OF OTHER TYPESMAY BE DANGEROUS AND WILL VOID THEWARRANTY. DO NOT CONNECT YOURVEHICLE’S 13.8 VOLT BATTERY SUPPLY TO THECHARGING SOCKET AS DAMAGE WILL RESULT.CYCLING YOUR BATTERY PACKCycling of your Ni-MH battery shouldnot be necessary.
