The clause A-3.2 Line No. 6 ofIS 3975 : 1999 clearly states that all selectedsamples shall be tested for all the chemicalrequirements.Here, we would like BIS to clarify whetherchemical composition of metal is to bementioned in the test reports of manufacturer ornot.During third party inspections, some agenciesare asking for manufacturers test certificates forchemical analysis as per IS 3975 : 1999.Core identification of three core cables bynumerals has been indicated as 0,1,2,3. Thisshould have been 0,1,2.11.2,Table 4,Page-411.2,Table 4,Page-411.2,Table 4,Page-413.2,Page-5,VCC For 23 cores lay up has been shown as 2-7-13.This should have been 2-8-13.VCC For 37 cores lay up has been shown as 0-6-12-18. This should have been 1-6-12-18.VCC For 62 cores lay up has been shown as 1-6-12-18-24. This should have been 1-6-12-18-25.RKEINote under this clause states : “It may bedesirable for single core cables intended foruse in ac system, to be armoured with nonmagneticmaterial” whereas IS 1554 (Pt-1)Clause No. 13.2.1 states that : “ In case ofsingle core cable intended for use in acsystems, the armouring shall be of nonmagneticmaterial”.15.1 c)vii, Page7HILSince the application of cables is same, wewould like BIS to clarify this point.Which procedure is to be followed for thermalstability test on outer sheath; as per Annexure–A of IS 5831 or test method of IS 10810 (Pt-60).

Size of test specimen suitable forsmaller diameter tubular samples should bespecified in the IS.
